I'm not too fund of Tom's reviews either. I haven't read it, but I don't think I miss much.

IMO, atleast the noise level measurements give you some info about them.

I find the most useful part of Tom's site to be the graphics card charts, which you can easily show some clients so they get some quick info about the speed of the card you are recommending them.
