WD announces 40GB/p, when both HGST and Seagate announce for the same time a 50GB/p. I guess pricing is going to drop big time.

My feeling on this is that it might be better to install a punch card reader/writer than to use one of these.

I think it is great that WD released these new drives. It seems that they put a lot of technology into this product to make it more reliable, which is a promising sign.

As "yesteryear" (or late to market) as they are, maybe Scorpios are refurbished pre-Hitachi IBM Travelstars that have been relabeled as a WD product. Lou Gerstner's 99¢ bargain bin!

Technology has advanced since the early eighties. A punch card machine can now fit in your hand. Of course, if you want to read more than on card at a time, it might be tough....
