The stuff is out there. Now, when the hell can we get some??????

  • LSI Logic will exhibit in the PCI Express Community, kiosk #909, with its state-of-the-art eight-port internal/external MegaRAID(r) SAS adapter featuring LSI Logic 8-port SAS controller ICs and SASx12 expander.
  • Additional products on display at IDF include the MegaRAID SATA II and a PCI-X to 8-port SAS HBA at LSI Logic booth #509. The SCSI Trade Association's Storage Community booth will also feature the new LSI Logic SAS HBA.

The article mentions a 12-port SAS expander module in use at the exhibition. There's also a 36-port expander IC in the works! Obviously, this will be the central point of a large array -- though it may not be all that physically large with the use of 2.5-inch SAS drives.
