NEWZ: Windows For Supercomputers

A while back, we had Windows For Workgroups (a.k.a. -- Windows For Warehouses). By the end of 2005, we'll have "Windows For Supercomputers," as people like to call it -- which will actually be called Windows Server 2003 Compute Cluster Edition.

...Microsoft is aiming to have its first cluster version of Windows ready in time for a supercomputing conference this fall.

...Theimer said this market became interesting to Microsoft as the use of clusters moved beyond government and academic settings into businesses.

Windowz For Supercomputerz has been delayed until the first half of 2006. It was to have been released towards the end of 2005.

One would have to suspect that M$ is running into trouble porting Outlook Express, Messenger, and to a 64-bit massively parallel computing environment. <chuckle>
