I'm trying to use the boot.ini to select the secondary OS, but it is not working. I tried all 7 other drives "rdisk(1)...rdisk(7)" to no avail. The image on the drive is fine, since I can boot from it using F12 in the BIOS. It's so simple, yet what can I be doing wrong?

Is that your primary drive? If you have to select it in the BIOS I am guessing no and you need to do a cable shuffle?

The primary drive (set in the BIOS) is the one that boots the primary OS by default "rdisk(0)." The secondary drive can be booted by selecting it in the BIOS, but of course I'd rather make the choice with the boot.ini.

I actually prefer it this way, it allows both OSes to act completely independently. No change or consideration is required when taking one of them out.

They are on independent disks. The problem is that I have too many drives. 8 are on all the time and then another 7 (3 int, 4 ext) kick in as the backup. It was fine until I rearranged the drives yet again to add that elusive X25M G2.

What OS is your primary, and what is the secondary?

If I have the PC boot from the XP64 then I can choose either that or XP32 at boot, but if I do it the other way the XP64 never boots. I still don't get it.

Of course now I wiped the X25-E and moved it to my luggage. Today I have only the X25-M G2. What a pain since it wants to boot to the non-existent drive. :frusty:

Right click on My Computer>click on Properties > Advanced > Startup & Recovery.
Use the drop down list to select the first boot drive.
