That's normal where a notebook supports different battery sizes. The Asus actually has three: 3-cell, 6-cell and 9-cell. The 9-cell protrudes a few centimeters and obviously weighs more to boot, but claimed battery runtime is nearly 8 hours ...
The 6-cell is the best compromise for most people, but as they include two batteries, you can use the little 3-cell as a spare.
