Excellent. I enjoyed John Waterhouse's work in particular.

You'd probably also like the works of Maxfield Parrish (illustrator of children's books), Bill. He's one of my favorites.

I'm fond of Thomas Cole (Hudson River school) and Alphonse Mucha (Art Nouveau) as well.

Doesn't one of our members have a degree in art history?

I just happened to notice it was after midnight, which is why I posted that. I'm working today, just like other days.

The thing about the artists I was referring to is, the only places I could find decent images of their work were sites that sell posters. I was really disappointed that there weren't more virtual gallery-like sites.

Thank you CityK, that is a real treasure to find on the Internet. Plus the links to other virtual art galleries is nice too. As Merc lamented, finding fine art on the world wide wibble is not easy, many times I find the appropriate images on ebay.

For the artwork from John William Waterhouse, the one that interests me is "Spring". If I could find a nice example, I would like to have a copy of Eugene de Blaas' "Gathering Shells" for my living room and Les Tait's "1182 Bloor St. W" for my office. "Profile" by Edmund C. Tarbell is beautiful too.

It is nice that you found those links Howell, I've search through Google and have never come across them. Nonetheless, as I mentioned before, fine art is hard to find on the web. For example, of those two website, only one of them has artwork for August Macke, and then only three of his pieces. However, once you know the artist that you are looking, you can always search by their name, but that doesn't always work either.
