The Plex server installed on my Synology box worked perfectly, so long as you didn't ask it's poor CPU to do anything it couldn't. But now I want to transcode in realtime from HD to my phone.

I installed the latest version of Plex Media Server on my workstation, and when I attempt to add a section, it does not display my mapped network drive at all. Even manually trying to add the path (Z:/Movies) won't work.

I read on the forums of someone having to connect via iSCSI to make it work. Surely there is a better way?

I do not have a problem adding a mapped path to my Plex Server. I have paths on Windows and on FreeNAS. Is it possible you're running the Server as a User that doesn't have that mapped drive in its profile (i.e. running the server as the Admin account instead of a regular username)? At any rate, you can be a cheater and use a UNC path like \\nas\video\ if you have to and I've observed that to work OK.
