I don't think it means it won't work. I think it means the array could have worse IOP capability with very small writes.

Are there newer RAID controllers designed for the >2.2TB and advancing format drives yet? If not yet, there will be some eventually.

I hope so. At the moment I have a few softRAIDs of 6 or more 3TB drives. It would be nice to get them on proper RAID cards with large caches again.
