SCSI problem

I have an IBM U2W SCSI hard drive that has an 80 pin connector originally designed for a hot swap setup. I also have an Adaptec 2940 U2W SCSI card. Of course the connectors on the card do not match the hard drive. Is there a simple, easy, and cheap way to use the IBM hard drives with the Adaptec controller??? Do I need a ternminator?

You can get a 68pin->80 pin converter. Ideally it would be LVD compatible, for maximum performance. Basically you plug in one end into the drive, then the 68 pin cable and a 4 pin power connector on the other side. You still need termination (at the end of the cable).

You just need a converter. Some say that they are not very reliable, but I used one in my computer for over 2 years and never had a problem. This is the one that I used and it worked great. You could probably find one for less money elsewhere, this is just an example.

Really the best way to go is get an SCA/scsi hotswap setup for around 200 dollars.

80 pin scsi drives are all over the place, fast and cheap.
