[Mercutio is suddenly shifted to SLASHDOT MODE]

MMmmmm... 100 times more pr0n.

[Amazingly, Mercutio has "Excellent" karma on slashdot. Kind of scary, isn't it?]

Gazing into my crystal ball I see 25TB hard drives for $300. Meanwhile, 4GB models continue to sell for $40 on ebay.

They've been messing (maybe literally) around with "biological" storage in academic research departments for more years than I care to count. Protein this-and-that have continued to be most of the focus in bio-storage since at least 1994 or '95.

if you used bios storage... would it be vulnerable to viruses... or bacteria...

um... don't most protiens start to denature above about 100F.. would that be a problem for protein based storage seeing as how PCs are expected to run in that range...

Yes I can see the future of SR's computers forum now:

Can somebody helped me, a virus ruptured my phospholipid bilayer and one of my partitions leaked out into the interstitial fluid.

That can't be SR. There was no mention of RAID0.

Guys, guys, the storage will be in our bodies. We'll all be part of the collective. For data transfer, you'll have to, um, exchange body fluids.
