What are the smallest tower cases for ATX? I know everyone is buying the mini ITX/micro ATX boards, but I already have the mainboard/CPU/HSF and want a case that is smaller than the typical 9/10 bay mid tower. It will have an optical drive, a removable 3.5" dual bay, and only two internal 3.5" drives. Are there any good cases around 16" high that accept a standard PSU? Thanks.

The NZXT Source 210/Source 220 are my go-to cases. They're less bulky than something like an Antec Sonata Solo, though I don't think you're going to find a mid-tower much under 440mm (17.3").
As an alternative option, why not something like a Silverston LaScala? They're media center chassis that supports 6 3.5" drives and full ATX boards. Because of how my workspace is configured, I gave very serious consideration to putting my Haswell-E system in one.
