It would probably be very soon after 155 that the A3 would also be drag limited. I've read in numerous places that speedometers aren't very accurate at those speeds, but I guess if you were hitting the cutoff, it's probably a clean indicator.

Aside, I was looking up some of the specs on the car and I'm really surprised that your A3 weighs 3781 Lbs!

Yup, it is quite heavy, and it does feel some of it in really tight corners. I was actually looking for a heavier car, so it would be safer towing the boat (2500 lbs). Hitting the limiter was quite obvious, there really was some extra room in sixth, you felt the car simply stop accelerating.

Nova progs are usually good, but...the "Car Talk" guys?

Car of the Future

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/car/

After tonight's Nova,

Frontline:

America's sucky health system (my title)

Sick Around America
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/sickaroundamerica/

FRONTLINE travels the country examining the nation's broken health care system and exploring the need for a fundamental overhaul.

Good luck with that Obama, trillions in debt and more will be required to implement those policies...going to have to tax more than the wealthy to pay for those grand health care visions.

More like 20. :p

What is the purpose? It looks like the remote units used by the bomb squads.

If you watch the movie wall-E, he's a futuristic garbage compactor known as the model type Wall-E that creates walls of garbage. It's a cute movie.

I'm taking advantage of the fact that all our branches will be closed tomorrow (one of 3 days a year) to do some major work on the WAN links. Funny how a bunny that lays acid-trip eggs gets everyone off work.

Guess is was something in the pizza thread, can't remember. Someone (was it Handy?) was commenting on how fetching "Yumm-O" annoying, gravely voiced Racheal Ray is/was....yuck-0.

So it brought up this silly bit of food porn writing by someone jtr should be familiar with (from comments by me):

I don't watch basketball much, if ever; so I missed that ad. But really, it goes by *so* quickly, I did not pay attention to all the inneudo/imagery references. Meh, maybe I'm just too old. No, that can't be it. Maybe my mind isn't in the gutter as often as some famous writers/icons. LOL.

But then again, from a publication that has a stories/weekly columns like this: http://www.laweekly.com/slideshow/view/5499706

http://www.laweekly.com/2009-04-16/...ve-thru-journey-into-the-pornography-of-meat/

Behinds the scenes of making of her 'video', lol. better than the actual ad:

Pretty soon, though; probably when she hits 40; she'll fill out even more (yeah, there are fat vegetarians) like Nigela Lawson(sp?), being the full fledged meat eater she is now.

Decided to splurge for the weekend and took the wife to San Francisco. We're staying at the San Francisco InterContinental in a sweet corner room. Unfortunately, both batteries are dead for my camera, so no photo love for me. The view is great; the western 180 degrees from the hotel includes the industrial areas to the south, the residential areas to the west, and downtown to the north, with the capital in the distance and the Metreon close up. Bummed about the camera, but enjoying it anyway.

After the Mount Pulag climb, I participated in a bike event for Clean Air this morning. About 7000 cyclists weaving through the metropolis. Quite short, only 30 or so kilometers. But the heat was energy sapping. This was my first "Tour of the Fireflies" as this annual event is called, although my son, and his girlfriend have been taking part for the last three years.

I have a new toy on the way. I ordered a Thinkpad T500 with a T9600 CPU. It took a long time (almost a month) for them to ship it, but I'm hoping it gets here by Friday. I got a special discount at work and it ended up being about $400 off the normal price that I could get if I ordered it through their website like a normal customer. I placed an order with newegg for an extra 2GB RAM since it is much cheaper than buying the RAM through Lenovo ($30 vs $90). I plan to use it as my main computer from now on.

I didn't even notice the 6k!?

Ha, yeah, no 370Z for me. Though, a friend of mine is going to help me learn/drive on a track this summer. The economy would need to be doing much better to consider a 370Z. I'll settle for the new computer for now and a while. :)

Lenovo's been slow to ship for a while now. The rep I've dealt with in the past says there's an issue with their battery supplier. Buying direct from Lenovo I usually see product in between two and six weeks.

Of course I can buy systems from Newegg or CDW or something, but those are invariably in configurations I don't want to buy.

Anyway, I must also offer my congratulations on your 6000 posts, Handy!

My boss at work ordered almost the same thing (only thing different was the CPU, his T9400) and his came in a week. That can obviously be enough of a difference for supply problems, but still frustrating none the less. The report on their forums was something to do with the integrated camera causing delays.

I missed a nice deal Lenovo just had with their scratch and dent battery blowout. People were getting 6-cell batteries for $38 shipped direct from Lenovo and reporting zero cycles on them. I was going to buy one to have an extra, but the laptop hadn't shipped...now they're out of stock. They might have that again in the next couple years...

I'm getting better at flying my RC helicopter (Belt-CP v2). It is capable of some hardcore 3d flying, but I have this crazy idea of mounting a dSLR to it and doing aerial photography. That would be an expensive crash.

I was visiting this wholesale Chinese importing company that did primarily aquarium products but also lighting sources like linear flourescent tubes used in more modern enviros (US is behind as would be expected ;) ) like Japan & EU. Was talking to the company director/US president, started mentioning the dangers of LiP0ly...RC helicopter batteries combusting burning up garages & Land Rovers. So then he asks if I'm into RC heli, I said a little. He walks me over to a full shelf stacked to the ceiling in the warehouse, mid-way up, on a shelf he's got *some* of his RC Heli, big arse suckas, just a few 1ft long ~10in high bodies, overall 3ft long!, high-end stuff. Then asks me what model I have, after telling me he has 28 in his *fleet*. I told him is was just a small one...uggh, like saying I have a bicycle...it's actually a beginers tricycle, and this guy has a collection of full custom carbon fibre time trialers. Just want to crawl back under my rock in embarrassment. Makes you hate rich people and their toys :p

Anyway, yeah... crazy idea. You'd need quite a heavy-high capacity lipoly battery pack as well as purposeful designed larger heli to be able to carry that extra load, in a controllable manner. Cam would likely need to be on full auto. What kind of RC could you have with any still/video capture device? Would be better to use a camcorder for AP, but I'm not aware of any consumer cams that have long distance remote wireless capability. Suppose someday we'll have either Wi-Fi or cellular remote control over video or still cams, but that's in the future.

Then if there were children anywhere in the vicinity, psycho parents would call the police and try to get you arrested for being a perv/child predator taking pictures of children. Such is our society today, never had that kind of rampant paranoid mentality decades ago.

Now the madness of getting a 5DII makes sense. Combining it with a WFT-E4A gives me complete remote control, including live view and focus, over WiFi.

My funny story for the day.

I have a friend that I know through another internet forum. She kind of got thrust into a System Administrator's job and she's not entirely qualified for it, so she uses me for help quite a bit. We chat a lot and have been for about two and a half years.

She has a fondness for inexpensive jewelry, so last year, a few times, I would send her a $10 necklace or something from her Amazon wish list to round out the $25 Amazon requires for free shipping. She got used to getting tiny packages from Amazon.

Shortly before her birthday last year, we somehow got talking about women's underwear, specifically about how I think thongs are the awesomest and sexiest clothing ever devised as human apparel, while she took the side that women would be better off in granny undies than to ever wear a thong.

So, as a bit of a joke, for her birthday I sent her the tiniest thong underwear I could find on Amazon.

We happened to be on the phone when she got them; I was on speakerphone with her and her boss when her mail-delivery person came by and dropped off this tiny package that she expected to be a necklace or brooch or something... and she casually opened the envelope to reveal tiny, tiny thong underwear. In front of her boss.

And apparently you can hear someone blush on the phone while her boss and I had a good laugh about it.

Fast forward to this year: I asked her what she wants for her birthday. She picks out a "Wonder Woman" camisole and panties set, and I dutifully pay and have it shipped to her.

This morning she calls me, laughing her ass off.

Her boss had ordered some software from Amazon, and, seeing the Amazon package in the hall between their offices this morning, had picked up and, yes, opened a package containing her underwear.

Next year I'm thinking fuzzy handcuffs or something. :D

Whips N chains :D

Oh Gawd, thongs are the most grotesque of human apparel evah devised!

Butt floss, sliding into the never zone of human excrement...ewww! When I'm at the farmer's mkts and see women in low cut jean bending over and their thong's little triangular wedge is quite visible (bc their designed to ride high) I get the urge to go over there and grab the string attachments to the side and pull up on them to give them a wedgy. Only there's no material below, so you'll just give them a rope burn line, lol.

Bikini panties, tiny lacy style are the sexist of human designed apparel, why I even were them myself they are just too hawt! (j/k about myself). Thongs are terrible for the seduction, lusting from afar. With bikini panties and either a tight dress or low cut jeans, you see the outline of them outside and lust/desire to slip them off/rip them off :p, that fine arse and get into that pair of jeans. Thongs have no outline at all, there is none...you see a butt, you get no arousal, lustful in the heart Jimmy Carter type thoughts...where's the fun in that :( ? Panty lines rock!

Course, Paris & BritanO, go au naturel

Now lets not get into all the rage of shaving off all that natural curly hair...down there, a la current pron star style...ewww, like chemo & radiation treatments made them lose all their hair---so ugly, like those genetically manipulated/breed hairless cats, double gross.

Heh, Merc what's she think about that^^^?

It is not very good, and definitely does not create more control. Make sure you can return it.

It is the only way I can think of to know where a camera is pointing when it is flying 50' overhead. Even if the live view is 2fps, at least I know about where it is pointing.

You're missing out Uda. Thongs are far from grotesque and removing the hair is a wonderful thing.

Merc, that's an awesome story. Glad to hear you're having fun with her!
