Sorry about that, gentlemen. Correcting the software so that it gets my age right is just one of those end-of-year jobs you have to do. I just forgot to do it this time. My memory does seem to be a bit unreliable lately. Maybe it's a sign of increasing years - after all, I'm nearly eight already!

HOLY fuk, John Mayer is a perfect match for Jessica Simpson... possessed of null brain power.

My biggest dream is to write pornography....

One of the most significant differences between us was that I was tweeting. There was a rumor that I had been dumped because I was tweeting too much. That wasn't it, but that was a big difference. The brunt of her success came before TMZ and Twitter. I think she's still hoping it goes back to 1998. She saw my involvement in technology as courting distraction. And I always said, "These are the new rules."... I'll always be sorry that it didn't last. In some ways I wish I could be with her. But I can't change the fact that I need to be 32.

^or 12???

Well I guess dd, needs to get to it then...twittering :D

When Wales was buried in snow twitter was a handy tool for keeping track of which buses were running. It has it uses... They're not what it's usually used for and probably not what it was designed for, but they are there...

Is there meaningful anonymity on sites like Twitter and Faceplate?

That depends on how it is associated with all the other bits about you. I would consider any information given to any of these companies (even under their promise of "private") as posted on the web. The current privacy threat is from the combining/mining of all the little bits about you all over the web.

^how to get laid by John Mayer, pretty funny parody....and Obama Grrrl (Amber Lee Ettinger) looks much cuter in this vid than she did in Obama...weird :p.

:rotfl: what's really funny his how dumb these women have to be to fall for such a Lothario (well, except we know Hanna Montana didn't really get bumped by him)

Yeah, Mayer dreams of being a pr0n writer....sheesh, he needs to go dry hump Paris or somethin.

Possibly the first instance of Twitter actually being useful for something besides massaging people's egos:

Back on Madison Avenue, Austin Horse quickly realized his bike was gone and immediately took out his cellphone and posted to Twitter (“STOLEN BIKE! My orange gangsta just got stolen 28th & mad”). He then found a few pictures of the bike that he had shot previously and retweeted them. It was just after 4 p.m.

...........

Around 6:30 p.m., Mr. Brannan was with his wife outside the New Museum before an opening, feeling a bit peckish.

He strolled around the corner onto Stanton Street to get a snack and discovered, parked upside-down in front of the deli he was aiming for, a bright orange Gangsta Track bike, by Brooklyn Machine Works. “I noticed straightaway that it was Austin’s, and called him to tell him that I was with his bike,” he said.

You mean you are out with a lady friend and some other lady mistakes you for her man and assaults you out of jealousy AND mistaken identity. :p

Is that a common problem or did it happen to you? :bigeek:

Gates on Twitter/social netwkg & iPad :)

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/bronstein/detail

You once said Steve Jobs could see the next big thing. Do you like the iPad?
It's okay. The scenarios aren't that clear. But it's good looking. [Steve Jobs] does good design, and [the iPad] is absolutely a good example of that.

And Gates *cannot* see the next big thing anymore than Balmer can...HP Slate w/Winblows 7 is a dud! Apple's record Q is driving a big $14/share boost @present...iPhone now dominates Apple's earnings, out doing the computer hardware sales, etc. iPad will likely continue that path.

Until Facebook supported asymmetric relationships, it was a bit of a problem, I had like 1,000 people a day from the Philippines wanting to be my friend. I couldn't say 'no' quickly enough; I love everybody in the the Philippines, but I thought it'd be strange if I had all those 13-year-old girls signed up as my friend. Facebook wasn't working for me, and then they came up with a different format, where you can have 'fans' so it's asymmetric. So that was a big help. And then I wanted to have a demarcation between what I had done when I was at Microsoft and what I was doing outside of Microsoft. I do one thing which is fairly low tech, I do a letter that's distributed every year over the web. We've done a lot of videos on the web that have been successful

Is Twitter mostly about random things: 'I'm getting into my car, parking my car, the light is red?' Is it about that or about more serious things? We decided last fall: okay, even though it's been used a lot for more celebrity oriented local interest type things, a few people were starting to use it for very serious topics, to stay engaged and know what's going on. The format we have now [is] essentially: we have a blog, we're doing experiments with this audio/video thing I do after every trip, we're doing some Q&A things, we use the Twitter stuff to drive traffic not just to us but to other things I see like [this recent NYT piece by U2's Bono]. It's working super well. We basically got started about a year after I left Microsoft, and social media had evolved quite a bit.

^:D...like, OMG. brb.
