At 2200MHz, CPU temp is reported as 41C after running stuff like 3DMark. Doubtless it would rise a couple more degrees with Prime or similar.

Oh yeah, ambient was about 23C.

Sorry, forgot to mention I used a mix of FSB and multiplier increases. The default multiplier for the XP1700 is 11, and I was unable to increase it past 12.5. Note also that the Epox FSB settings are very slightly conservative - I read the results from diagnostic tools.

12.5 x 164 (164.9) = 2061MHz
12.5 x 172 (172.9) = 2161MHz
11.0 x 200 (200.5) = 2206MHz

Ummm, I'm all out of decent RAM; the nice memory supplier couldn't give me anything I wanted last week. :(

So had to run asynchronously with PC2100.

To date, I've managed to refrain from spending US$200 on a pair of 512MB DDR400 sticks.

hehe... i only have 2 sticks of pc2100... 1 stick of pc2700... I would guess my pc100 adds up to 2 sticks, and my pc133 is ~4 sticks(this is spread across 3 computers).

I do, however, have several pounds of fast page... of which i have atleast 100MB.

You must give in to the Force. You can feel the 512meg sticks of Corsair XMS3500 calling to you. Won't you give them a listen?

A quick update:

The XP1700+ remained solid at 2192MHz (12.5x175.4).

I have since been pushing an XP2400+. It needs a lot of extra voltage to be useful at 2300MHz (1.8V, 1.84 reported), and IMO better cooling than the stock Falcon Rock II I've fallen in love with.

On the other hand, it seems rock-like at 2280MHz (13x175.4) @1.725V (1.76 reported), and temperatures are excellent (less than 20C above ambient at idle).

So c'mon Doug. You've got a shiny new nForce 2 motherboard and an even shinier Thoroughbred. What'll it do? :D

time, I just bought two OCZ400512B 512MB DDR400 2T DIMMS for AU$320 through Yen Industries (www.yenindustries.com) I got them cheaper than advertised by quoting TWEAKERS-003 and telling him I was a Tweakers.com.au forum member.

I've had these DIMMS run at 2-3-3 @ 208MHz in dual channel mode. not bad for 'value' RAM :) but got better better results running them synchronously with my CPU at 2-2-2 (166MHz FSB)

I only managed to keep hold of my 1800+ 'b' for about 2 weeks heh. I bought myself another B core Thouroughbred, this time a AUIHB 0307 cored 2100+. these are known good overclockers, although not as good as the new JIUHB batch 1700+.

this is what I've managed with it so far:

jtd_bench.gif

HSF is my lapped V9 on about 3300rpm which is nice an quiet :D

temps are as follows:

idle:
below CPU - 42C
in-die - 53C

heavy load (Prime95 torture test & F@H):
CPU Die - 49C
ABS II - 63C

my last CPU wasn't happy running on a FSB faster than 166MHz but this CPU loves it. the big bonus is RAM bandwidth. now I am running my DDR RAM in dual channel @ 204MHz on 2-3-3-6 timings. memory reads and writes score in the 3100MB/s and 1220MB/s range respectively, which is comparable only to dual channel PC1066 RDRAM!

now, I just need to make use of it hehe.
