What the heck do your customers play the most, David? I've been popping in periodically on your server and there's never anyone there but me and the bots.

I've been looking at City of Heroes. It's an MMO - and as a general rule I think MMO players are one step up from pondscum, but I love comic books and as a genre, superheroes are utterly underdone in PC games.

BTW, is there any chance of adding non-onslaught maps to your rotation?

Mostly they're into BF: V, but because we don't have that many people yet they're been playing on other people's servers. While you were on yesterday we had 3 people playing there from my place. Keep in mind our hours are from 3-10PM M-Th and 3-12 F (PST).

I'll enable voting on the server, when I get in later today.

Nope, the T-1 and server are at the store. Usually when I'm playing I'm doing so from home via DSL. Although I could use the advantage of a single-digit ping....

I've had people here playing for the last 12 hours or so. Back and forth between BF:V and UT2004. I think I'll be sleeping tonight.

do I need the full version to connect to dd's server or will the demo work?

I'm pretty sure you need the full version, as it rotates maps. If you timed it right you could play 3 rounds, then it would boot you.

Why is your server always down, David?

Because I'm an incompetent sysadmin :eekers:

Honestly, the system used for the UT server is also performing quite a few other tasks. Primary among them my &(%% PXE/Ghost server. Once I get this licked, it should be up 99% of the time.

I've spent 100+ hours on this POS, and I can't seem to make it do the most basic things. Most frustrating.

City of Heroes today! Huzzah!

And, as I expected, City of Heroes is a good time.
No PVP (that I've found). No stupid +2 Backscratchers or Twine of UberCrafting. No crafting.

You make a hero and go out to serve truth, justice and ass-kicking.

The graphics are awesome, especially. This is a game that requires a DX9 video card, and I think, for the first time, I've found something where I can tell the difference between a 128MB card and a 256MB one. Wow.

Super Heroes probably aren't anyone else's "thing", but IMO this game was worth the money and my time so far.

You can change the CD-Key using a changer, but IIRC it also checks for an "installation GUID", requiring a re-install anyway.

DD: Do you still have the UT2004 server going?

s

Nope, don't even have the game installed anymore. Everyone is playing COD:UO, LOtR:BFME,and WOW. Every once in a while a game of CNCG:ZH or Desert Combat...that's about it.

I still play UT2004 at our regular LAN parties. We haven't even moved into COD or battlefield. I don't host a server because I don't have enough upstream bandwidth for more than 2-3 people.
