What a start to the Winter

I do not know how your fall has been ending, but just about everyone I know has no electricity. Apparently there are about 100 000 people in Nova Scotia without power right now, and many will not see electricity until next week. Firestations are setting up shelters... and it's only November!

I have a feeling about this winter guys, and I think it's going to be a lot of fun. There's nothing like having a blizzard outside, a bottle of wine, some beer, music and buddies. Have I mentioned that I love Halifax before?

I like winter though.

3 inches last week, of course that was the night I was meant to drive down to Ithaca. It was snowing hard enough that I could just barely make out my I-90 exit. Given that where I was going I had never been, and the signs were starting to get covered, I decided to wait till the morning. Plus I didn't have my Blizzaks on yet Now I'm all set for the white and the shiny stuff too.

Gilbo, your about 3 months early for my annual "Brrr, its freakin cold" thread, which (itself) ususally comes about 6 months after my annual "man, its freakin hot" thread...although I don't think I did the summer report this year due to the, well, rather mild summer weather (only 3 days got above 30C)....as such, in order to make up for the general let down the community must have felt, I suppose a fall weather report is called for:

Sept - drop dead gorgeous weather. Comforatably warm and sunny almost everyday. No humidity.

Oct - first two weeks were much like Sept. Last two weeks were cool and gloomy...lots of ran. Fall colours were quite good (here in the city). I hear that Algonquin was nothing short of spectacular this year.

Nov - so far so good. Seems like one day will be cloudy and the next will be sunny (although, we've just had 3 sunny ones in a row). A couple of nights the temp has dipped below 0, but generally its been above. Day time temps btw 5-10 typical. Lots and lots of brown leaves on the ground now -- but it all looks very nice on a bright sunny day.

I love the fall. Its my favourite time of the year.

Misc comments - Only 5 weeks or so and the amount of daylight begins to increase again!....of course, the flipside is that we have ~5 more weeks of the "days" getting shorter. Man, I hate darkness at 5PM.

I forgot to mention that the "Brrr, its freakin cold" report is, strangely enough , usually accompanied by the comprehensive "Houston surfing report".

Oh yeah, I heard it snowed to the north of the city, but I haven't seen hide nor hair of a snowflake.....yet.

Winter is too cold and everything aches more each year. I so miss SoCal.

Been 22°C / 72°F here since last month and will stay that way until April.

Not bad here. Min of about 20F at night and we're seeing highs of about 50F during the day. All the leaves fell a couple weeks ago. No snow yet.

Locally, we should begin experiencng the annual blizzard of migrating Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan residents starting around the first week of December lasting through late February. White geese above and vehicles of hominids on the surface.

Not that my sister is living in Ithaca I get all the cold stories second-hand. That's close enough, thank you.

You guys are frikin' nuts to live in such inhospitable environments. I had to wear a jacket last night...

It's been quite mild here, low to upper 20s at night, 40s and 50s during the day. Today it was in the upper 50s and rained all day. I loved it.
