question What types of data are backed up by a Win 7 OS, when a restore point is created?

[SIZE=+1][SIZE=+1]I've never been sure if selecting a restore point after a pc f[SIZE=+1]ailure, has any potential of solving a problem that I can't solve by trial and error methods.[/SIZE]

Instead of using that, I much prefer a proper disk image backup program.

Different tool will make different types of data.image? So I suggest you try third-party backup tool(eg,aomei backupper), there are some free and excellent software you can google to find. good lcuk!

Thank you for your advice. I will surely need a backup or imaging program after I install Win 7 on my Toshiba laptop and also on my desktop pc. I've been solely relying on System Restore.

I use CrashPlan for my backup needs. Worst case scenario, I can just reinstall and restore my personal files.
