windows 7 or 8 works in my system

Dear all

Presently in my system having the MOTHER BOARD D101GGC, CPU P4 -3.0GHG, RAM 2GB, HARD DISK 250 GB. If i want to upgrade my system to windows 7 or 8 weather my system supports or not. friends plz help me in this.

Windows 7 shouldn't be a problem. Windows 8 probably.

Agree. Windows 7 should be fine (but tight on memory). If it's an original Pentium4 (not a PentiumD), then no, Windows 8.1 most likely won't work.

Noting: your motherboard uses an ATi Xpress200 chipset, and is limited to 2GB DDR-400 maximum. Also be aware that AMD does not support that chipset on Windows 7 (but does on Windows Vista), however expect generic drivers from MS will work fine. Otherwise for a modern OS, Linux is certainly an option...

Most of the bases here have already been covered, and I concur. Linux is a good option for those wanting to get a little more life out of their old box.

Either Windows 7 or 8 would really be a waste of the license activation on that machine.
