That's because Microcrap has decided to move to a monthly schedule for its updates. Supposedly to stop worrying customers with weekly critical updates. So now, instead of receiving patches for holes in a matter of days, we'll receive them sometimes up to a month after their discovery in order to look less like swiss cheese. What a great way to improve the security of their softwares. Kudos Redmond.

That's interesting news, Coug. Normally I get the little icon indicatin a critical fix is available and I install them immediately. I haven't seen it in a while and your information confirms why.

I will have to remind myself to visit the update site every 2 weeks or sooner.

That also gives them more time to test and validate the fixes, so we
don't end up with performance disabling "features" or patches to
fix the holes created by the previous patch.

And correct me if I'm wrong; but with the exception of the Qhosts trojan, the majority of recent patches have come out before any known exploits
arrived.
