I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, but this is what I was emailed today from Microsoft:

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Why are some users unable to access the internal Web site even after installing the update?

A. If you added users to your Windows Small Business Server network before installing the update, open the Users taskpad in Server Management, and then run the Change User Permissions Wizard to grant the appropriate users' access to your company's internal Web site (http://companyweb).

Q. Why am I not able to view the internal Web site from the Internet after installing the update?

A. If you published your company's internal Web site to the Internet before installing the update, you must run the Configure E-mail and Internet Connection Wizard again after installing the update to publish the Web site to the Internet.

Q. I installed Windows Small Business Server prior to November 24, 2003. Do I need to get the update?

A. Not if you either installed Windows Small Business Server 2003 prior to November 24, 2003, or used the manual workaround published by Microsoft. However, if you plan to make major configuration changes to Windows SharePoint Services, such as creating a new top-level Web site or an extranet, you should apply the update.

Q. I installed Windows Small Business Server prior to November 24, 2003. Do I need to order a replacement Disc 3?

A. Yes, you will need to request a replacement for your Disc 3.

Q. How do I know if I already have the update?

A. To verify that the Windows Server 2003 Hotfix Q832880 is installed:

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then open Add or Remove Programs.

2. Under installed programs, search for the Windows Hotfix Q832880.

Q. Where can I get more information about this issue?

A. The issue is specific to Windows SharePoint Services. For additional information, see Knowledge Base article 833019.

Q. I am System Builder. How does this issue affect me?

A. You will need to re-create your master image with the updated Disc 3. Alternatively, you may update the master image with the update (using the download) and ship the new Disc 3 to the customer.

I'm hoping that they won't charge shipping for the replacement disk. I wonder if this affects the DVD version, as well.

Doug has received a free copy of this OS by mail a few weeks ago. I'm sure he'll be glad to know.

I doubt he would have created an Intranet site.

I just opened the box just now and mine came with a CD's and a DVD...it came with two cases similar to the normal plastic DVD cases. In the first case is 3 CD-ROMs and in the second case are 3 more cd-roms and one DVD. It looks like I have both sets.

I don't plan on using this any time soon. I'd much rather setup a linux/samba server than this. If I had tons of extra computers I'd give this a try just to learn and have fun...but I don't, nor do I have the room for it.
