Interesting.
I wonder if those files could be copied from 2003 Server and installed?

Conceivably, but why would you want to? You don't need to -- You are simply modifying the Windows XP files.

It would be easier if you don't have the software to hack the XP files. Or are not comfortable with a Hex editor..
I have access to both so I might give both ways a try.

Actually, it wouldn't be 'reverse engineering' but 'forward engineering'. It's something that should have shipped with XP Pro anyway.

Copying the files from Server 2003 doesn't work.

Also, it doesn't work well with a Promise Ultra 100 and 4 IDE drives either.

Spent a day or so playing with this hack. Observations:

I doesn't work well with IDE drives (DUH)
Copying the files from 2003 Server don't work, even hacked.
The RAID 5 is sloooow.
Installing SP 2 wipes out the RAID 5 setup as it overwrites some of the hacked files.
After a reboot or cold start the RAID 5 setup disappears and must be manually 'reinitialized'
It's fun to play with but not really worthwhile if you value your data.
The RAID array cannot be seen by a clean install of XP.
The hard drives cannot be seen by anything once they have been converted to Dynamic disk and the RAID array is trashed. Partition magic is needed to clean them up. (maybe Server would see them, I didn't try that) Low level formatting would work.
Conclusion: Buy a hardware RAID card.
