SSDs - State of the Product?

I'm more excited about the ONYX 2 SSD's that were announced. Looks like decent pricing for those. And I need a big enough drive for my laptop.

Nichia Develops 60 Lumen Per Watt White LED

I used to be able to use it in the daytime indoors. Now it is barely able to be used in the dark. If you are saying this is not normal then I'll suspect the rechargeable batteries and try some other batteries first.

    Dell 2001FP

Got the panel apart and went to replace the tubes (they come already attached to a metal housing. But the metal tabs are not in the correct place. Nichia Develops 60 Lumen Per Watt White LED

So the second Romisen RC-R4 I bought back in 2008 (first one stopped working) is now not bright anymore. I assume this is normal? The LED has reached the end of its life?

What's the verdict on Windows 7?

I use it at home but am still not fully used to the file explorer changes from XP. I have to say that navigating files is my only annoyance in 7.

We'll see if it fixes the random rebooting issue. My wife's evo was randomly rebooting in the middle of a call. I pulled the battery and it seems better but not 100%. Mine does reboot occasionally in my pocket.

To fix the downloaded apps issue: You can either download an app to refresh the cache. Or go to manage applications and under all applications, find the market app, clear the cache and then the data. Now open the market again and it will retrieve the data from google again. Some are saying you...

You are doing menu -> Settings -> System Updates -> HTC Software Update ? It will be pushed OTA in waves but you should be able to do this to get it now. I was doing it many times a day since the original leaked date of July 30th.

Yes I got it last night around 9PM ET. Updated our two evos. Swype was cranky and needed to be uninstalled/reinstalled. The market still doesn't show all my downloaded apps in the downloads section, it only shows three of them.

    8425 Miniscribe

Well there is some info about the drives here that Tony wrote. http://www.redhill.net.au/d/d-a.html But as for a source of these drives, I don't know. And modern hard drives aren't going to be compatible. You may have to find a compatible controller. Maybe contact the company that makes the machine?

    Android: The Legend Begins

I have some ideas but I'm starting with some smaller throw away projects to learn how to tap into the various data sources before attempting to do the more ambitious projects. It has been a long time since I did any java work.

    Decent Inexpensive Headphones?

So my headphones at work are starting to fall apart, the rubber around the part you put in the ear became separated. Basically the glue wore out. But just about every pair of inexpensive headphones I try doesn't sound right to me. I wish I could try out a good pair for a few days to see what...

My Evo lasts more than a day no problem. I leave wifi and gps on. I only have 4G turned off (barely a signal at work - none at home). I do minimal calling though. I use it to play music at work and to check e-mail and send texts. My wife's seem not to last as long. I changed some settings...

I actually think the power button press is a plus. It prevents the phone from accidentally turning on while in my pocket. I do think it is too small and hard to press on the Evo though. But the phone process on my HTC Evo is: power button -> swipe down to unlock -> press phone button at...

End of the World As We Know It

I'm not sure I agree with the taxes argument. Some suburban community taxes are offset by the shopping centers they are built around. These pull in shoppers not just from near the place but from further away too. Upscale shopping and all that. Sure if spending goes down so does revenue from...

Radio shack has a $20 accessory credit if you pre-order it from them. They may treat the mail-in-rebate differently too but I haven't got confirmation of that. In one place someone said best buy and radio shack make it an instant rebate. In another I heard just best buy. Can you pre-order it...

Yeah the $10/month fee is a downer. But I'm seriously considering pre-ordering at best buy or radio shack. The shack has a $20 accessory credit for pre-orders. Is there anyplace you can go see it yet? Is it in sprint stores? You are seriously spoiled with that $30/month phone bill.
