It's turning out that way it seems these last 10 years. 10-20 years ago I did a lot of backpacking, mostly in SoCal (San Jacinto and San Gorgonio) but occasionally the eastern Sierra and Yosemite as well. Mostly went in the winter to avoid the crowds, bugs and be extreme.
