    Beverages

Well, it's the night before Easter, and Greg doesn't have work tomorrow. Went shopping, bought a 1/2 pound of Goose pate, expecting the cat to eat half. She only had a bite. I'm eating that with 2008 Mt. Eden Estate Pinot Noir, still my favorite Pinot Noir, after 30 years. It's from Saratoga...

SSDs - State of the Product?

X-25E was FAR too expensive. What's the warranty on the X-25M? 5 years. Considering the cost, I might well be dead before the drive wears out. If one breaks, I've kind of learned my lesson that even though you get huge through put, there is a point where bench marks are the only thing that can...

Samsung is hitting a new all time low: or the Syncmaster SA350LED

Guy at costco reminded me that the TV doesn't have the costco standard return policy, and, if it breaks, I'm SOL. So, I went with the Syncmaster P2770 27", and while it's not really the right size, if the 37" breaks, I could use it as a primary monitor without much problem.

    Computer Speakers

Klipsch makes a LOT of different speakers, some better then others. I listened to the subs, and the 12" was my favorite, value sound wise, even over the 14 and bigger. The Hereseys are pretty incredible speakers, and, with a powerful amp, they fill in and give a much broader range, then with a...

    Computer Speakers

The beauty of Klipsch has always been they can give excellent sound with low power from the amp. In the old days of 30-35 watt a channel amps, that was a big deal. Today, with 100-125 a channel, cheap, it's less so. That said, when I went to the Yamaha, I had a huge increase in sound quality...

I'm using the Klipsch Pro media 2.1 4 speakers and a subwoofer for the computer in my room. Fine for anything in a smaller room, and doesn't shake the walls. http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-4-1-Certified-5-Speaker/dp/B000062VUP/ref=sr_1_121?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1302635694&sr=1-121...

Samsung is hitting a new all time low: or the Syncmaster SA350LED

My system wasn't even consistently recognizing the stupid monitor. Took it back, and decided that when the TV dies, I might need a monitor that I could use all the time, so, I bought a Syncmaster P2770, LCD. It's kind of fast, 1 ms response time, and it has the software I like, and, it has a DVI...

Why is this wireless router so fast?

I've always held off on the bleeding edge, but I so liked torrents at 1.3 MB/sec that I decided the 20 bucks extra to get 18 mbps would be worth it. Just had a programer move in, and, he wants the upload speed. Uploads go over 6 mbps, then drop back down with this new connection. For some...

I type 70 words a minute. You don't do that looking at the keyboard. I was connecting the server to one of the HDMI ports on the 37" Vizio, but the darn cable I was using, from monoprice, worked loose often in the video card HDMI port. I can't help but think that with the weight, and length of the HDMI cables, they are leveraged on the ports, and, with any...

I usually buy stuff from Costco, so if I don't like it, I can take it back, or, if it goes defective, likewise. Costco gives me three monitor choices: A 21.5" LCD for 160 dollars SA 350 for 200 dollars, 23" and the 27" for 300 dollars. The 27" is liveable. However, the new power connector to...

For what it's worth: Hitting a bag dictates the wrist is flattened. In other words, to avoid harm to the wrist etc. the top of the hand has to be flat. We used to tape a ruler on the wrist, and align the rest of the hand with the wrist. This is an excellent guideline to protect your wrists...

OK: So a pagefile of let's say 1 gig, on a 30 gig blank drive, would be distributed over the drive, as the wear indicates, not just in a 1 gig space.
