You have single files larger than 8TB? What is the file system of the NAS? NTFS has limits to the max size of a file, but I'm sure the NAS doesn't run NTFS.

I've never been asked to leave immediately. My last job grounded me to the office though and had me stop going to customers several days a week which had been my standard work schedule / location.

That depends on the conditions of the pipes, the amount of crap, and the consistency of the crap.

I guess Intel's spoonfeeding us 5-10% improvements with each generation for 6 generations since Sandy Bridge eventually gave AMD enough time to pretty much get caught up to them.

You don't save installers for things? That's a standard part of my routine. Download installer, use it, and copy it to the installer folder on my server in the basement.

About 25 minutes here to go 18 miles and that's counting the 5 minute walk from the parking garage to the office. I work somewhat odd hours to avoid rush hour traffic though. I get into work around 10am and leave between 6:30-7:30pm.

I've seen the SAS Enterprise version for $420 too. I don't see why someone would try to save $20 and get a significantly lower MTBF and a slightly slower drive. So they give you data recovery. Big deal... I'm sure that doesn't help someone using them in RAID. It's not like you're paying...

So eBay is nice and slimy. A seller I'm looking to buy a number of used CDs from has a buy one get one 10% off promotion. So of course eBay calculates the discount in the least favorable way to the buyer by pairing the least expensive item with the most expensive to minimize the total...

They all seem rather expensive. Like $400+ for a 10TB Enterprise grade one.

Are there signs that you're losing fluid? Like juicy components? Brake fluid on the wheels? Replacing rotors and pads is a pretty easy DIY fix, but I don't know how mechanically inclined you are.

I was thinking similar to you before, but the video chipset is not on the CPU in that generation of CPU.

Hmm... sounds like the motherboard might be bad or the video chipset is though I'm not entirely sure why it's sensitive to differences in the power supply. Does it have a PCIe x16 graphics slot you could try a discrete card in?

It looks like I have 59.5" from the concrete to the bottom of the quasi rack I have hanging from the floor joists. I would guess that even with the casters it's not quite that tall, but I wouldn't anticipate a lot of room between them.
