I have a middle of the road package with my ISP and I just got a $20 discount on my package (with a speed bump to boot). What type of speeds are you guys getting nowadays?
I also really like having a 14" standard 4:3 screen. I wish more laptops had trackpoints (the little eraser head thingy in the middle of the keyboard) rather than touch pads. I don't see any with trackpoints any more. I don't know what I'm gonna do when I eventually have to replace my Compaq...
Good info. I have the Scythe Ninja and it is indeed somewhat of a PITA. If I didn't already have one I would have gotten something different. I don't have any problem with temps though (I do have a super quiet 92mm fan on it though)
Trusting a vender with your personal information is important when you are buying something. I'll defer to timwhit's resellerratings link for the rest.
Then again, we are talking about a HSF here. Never had to even think about returning one of those.
I doubt you'd get much further without exotic cooling, anyway. Everything else is running in-spec at DDR2-800 speeds so that's the sweet spot. The small bit more you might get would only be important if you wanted bragging rights, IMO.
I'm not sure if F@H will do the type of error checking Orthos does. It is made to test system stability under load so I would tend to trust that more than just running F@H.
Make sure you run Orthos on both cores for about 12 hours. I could boot and run windows no problem at stock voltage but there would be errors under Orthos w/o the slight voltage boost. I didn't want to risk there being any type of longer term data corruption so I thought the v boost would be...
I don't think you should have any trouble hitting 3.2g with your e6420. That's where mine has been running. Try Orthos to test your stability (with both cores) very easily. I think I had to tweak up the voltage by 0.125v IIRC. DDR2 800 is all you need to get there.
I want to get a new case to replace my P180. I can't find anything I really like right now. Any idea where I might look to see what cool cases will be coming out in the future or near future?
Thanks..
I'm thinking about the Gigabyte Aurora 570. I don't like working inside the P180 & the plastic feels cheap to me. I also want more room and easier access to HDD drive bays for swapping drives in and out.
Just fyi, the Corsair 520 is now available for $69 shipped free after rebate and google checkout. Figures I just got mine in the mail today.

Amazingly, the PSU arrived in one day after I...
I ended up getting the Corsair 520W for $85 shipped. Thanks for the feedback.

Vehicles are relatively aerodynamic nowadays and performance in that area is largely driven by consumer demand with respect to styling as well as desired vehicle dynamics at high speed (our studio is in the process of 're-theming' a vehicle because it won't be stable enough at 140mph on the...
One of the easiest and fastest ways we could reduce our automotive reliance on oil is just by reducing the speed limit on freeways to 50-55mph and actually enforcing the laws. MPG will be about 20% higher. DD might kill someone though if his commute time was doubled. ;-)
That would never...
Not true. I believe people should be allowed to choose any vehicle they want and that government should not (essentially) mandate what vehicles are available to them based on regulations made by politicians who know nothing about automotive design or performance.
People will become less...

IMO: Higher gas taxes and use of alternative energy sources are the only useful way to address our consumption problem in the US.
5 gallon bucket! :-)
But of course, if you have individual cans you should always pre-mix them all.
I bought one 1 gallon can just to use for cutting in corners etc. though. Should be fine.
Yeah but I thought...oh it might roll around in there too much!! It would have been a lot easier to clean if I just did that.
Oh well, it dried over night with a fan blowing on it. 4-5 guys from work are coming over on Saturday to paint all the walls I built in my basement (about 1300 sq...
Three things:
1.) When you buy a gallon of paint at Lowes, make sure the clerk puts the lid back on very securely.
2.) Try to avoid making sudden stops in your vehicle when you are transporting paint.
3 hours to clean out a gallon of latex paint that has spilled on the floor carpet in the...

Damn..just found out about another 47 year old guy from work who just died from stomach cancer. He was diagnosed in March. He's leaving behind 14 & 16 year old boys and the wife he just married in April.
Continuing the theme, the wife of a guy from my work lost an 11 month battle with cancer over the weekend. They have three young kids. She was 33. Not a good week. :-(
This is my wife's cousin:

She was a really nice person & I was fortunate to know her. The circumstances of her death are still unknown. 46 is just way too young.
The radio station spent most of the afternoon yesterday on the air with the staff talking about how much...
Am I right in my expectation that the latest Samsung drives are the coolest running (and quietest)?
I'm looking to get some new drives in the 250GB-320GB range. Are the Sammys the best choice? Am I missing anything with respect to larger drives that might run even cooler?
