This Call May Be Recorded For Quality Assurance

When I moved into my new condo, SBC was trying to sell their services to me. Ironically, they didn't cover our area. So, I felt obliged to tell the sales representative that 'I would love to use SBC but you don't cover my area'. <click>

In contrast, one company put me on hold and they were playing a local hard-rock radio station. It was playing Led Zeppelin's The Immigrant Song - if you're upset or irate, things won't get better after that type of music. :D

    Adios Socket A

Socket A CPUs had 462 pins, the next generation has 754 pins, and with this next generation they've dropped the letter nomenclature. So, now it's just Socket 754.

    Ban the power brick

Although, if you take some of those mini-form-factor systems, like Dell Optiplexes, they have an external brick that produces very little heat. You could easily engineer a slightly larger case to house that brick inside and let the heat dissipate through passive coolers. The heat impact on the...

Why do Socket 939 Boards suck so much?

Currently, I only have the ADAFX55BNBOX available. The ADAFX57BNBOX shows up as a New item, but inventory currently shows 0 (of course that is just checking online, I haven't called my sales rep.). The same goes for new dual-core ADA and OSA models.

Personally, I've never seen that, and I have taken drives from NT4 systems and have successfully read data from them within 2000 and XP. I've always been in the habit of taking drives like that and connecting then internally.
