Just did a dd from my X15-36LP to a Atlas15k2 :). Seems quite quiet when idle, with a nice smooth sound when searching. Putting the X15 in my other box as a boot drive.

A lot of people had a really dark and cold chrismas, as thousands were without electricity. They did get everything working during the weekend, but not for the 24th. My family was ok, and we had a nice, quiet, christmas. Too bad there weren't that many days off from work. Take care!

I just slapped on of these on my new P4C800-Deluxe with a P4 3.2GHz. This thing is really HUGE! I couldn't believe the size of this until I saw it! Running at default speed/voltage now, at almost minimum rpm's. Fedora Core 2 with lm_sensors gives me a temperature of about 61 degrees celcius...

And as for caps, that's the max you'll get out of these lines. Strictly controlled, it seems.

Upload for me is 1Mb/s. I haven't check the higher speeds yet, but if I remember correctly, they aren't much higher. Gotta google for the HW for 16/24Mb/s....

Doh, and I the only one here who put up his own Domino server and the Sametime on top of that for IM? ;) Sametime is quite nice, altough a bit slow for desktop sharing in my opinion (haven't tried others, do they have this feature?)

Slightly OT, getting 8Mb/s adsl here for about 59€, and 16Mb/s and 24Mb/s adsl is already being sold here. Haven't heard any comments yet, as no one I know has anything over 8Mb/s.

I agree with pretty much everything said here, and noticed that most of this stuff is exactly what is in some learning linux / guide to cert books. Seems like a pretty logical flow of information in them, so why not look at the TOC of a few of those books? 1. what is linux, who makes it...

My recommendation also, here we use F-secure quite a lot, and it deffinitely gives me much less (hmm, none?) problems than the others (all the usual suspects known on this forum....).

What NIC's do you have? I've got 2 Intel 1000MT NICs, which were a let down. Going CSA did the trick, but I only have it on one computer, going to upgrade another one soon.

Doh, this is the main reason why I'm thinking about going with an nforde3 mobo instead of the k8t800pro variants. At linuxhardware they have had horrible results with the via gige solutions.
