First of all the vast majority of the funding for public education in America comes from State and other local revenues - not from the Federal Government. So your point about the Federal deficit is not relevant.
Anyway, what I am talking about changing is not the books or classroom size. Read...
Mercutio,
What I am suggesting is that we need to educate our young people to be competitive in the world so that they can compete successfully as adults. And we are not doing that imo. In fact the ability to compete is being educated out of them for the sake of those who are less well equiped...
Your response has nothing to do with my post, which is not unusual for you as we have seen before. I'd suggest that if you do not understand what is plainly written that you refrain from replying to same - lest making a fool of yourself become a way of life for you rather than merely a bad...
Why not educate our young people in how to take care of themselves and their familes instead of how to take care of everyone else?
Wouldn't we have a better nation if everyone took responsibility for themselves and their families? The personal attributes which are required for this are...
All of this illustrates an important change in the fundamental meaning of freedom in this country beginning, innocently enough with Social Security in the 1930s.
Freedom in America has until recent history meant "freedom from government". Today we are moving rapidly towards the European model...
Merc,
Just for the record let me clarify my last post. I did not say that CT was less of of a man for his political views or because of the talking heads he listens to. What I am saying is that I thought he was a bigger person than to allow politics to come between friendship. Apparently I was...
Well I'm disappointed in you, not because of our differences politically, but because you've truned out to be less than the man that than I thought you were.
Don't push your luck. Until now I have been patient with you for the sake of our friendship. But my patience does have it's limits mon ami.
Please tone it down a bit.
They all are indebted to special interests - Republican and Democrat alike.
In general what ever the Pols say during the campaign has very little bearing on the way they actually will run the country if they win the election.
And that goes for the war in Iraq as well. It is going to continue...
I agree with Will that Bush will be re-elected. I think that will be the case no matter who the Democrats nominate. The U.S. has never changed Presidents in the middle of a war before. With the economy going strong, and an increase in the employment figures it could even be landslide for Bush.
DB,
Lookie what I found - http://www.theflyingemu.com/pages/1801/page.asp?Site=1801&ID=68
Did you check to see if Boags had an importer in Canada? Why not email this pub and find out where they get theirs from or perhaps they'll even sell you some and ship via UPS. :)
Hmm... not sure if you got my meaning. Spawn Movie Ranch is where Charlie Manson and his girls were waiting for "helter-skelter" to come. Which according the Charlie was the great race war between blacks and whites that the Beatles had predicted in their song of the same name.
I have no idea...
Cheer up my frosty friends. Help is on the way. Al Gore will be giving a speech on global warming today and how it's all evil President Bush's fault. :)
I do a lot of video capturing and editing. Right now I use a 200GB WD drive for scratch and boot off of a 18GB 10K III SCSI drive with an additional 10K III for OS backup. I'm not ready to buy more storage yet but I thought this looked interesting.
Pinnacle's consumer products are all like that. The only thing worse than the performance of their products is their technical support for them.
Basically, they just don't give a shxt about you or your problems once they have your money.
You really need a snowmobile up there Pradeep. Have you considered buying one? I've never been on one but they look like great fun and sensible to have where you live.
48 F here in St.Petersburg today. Which is just about right for me.
In the summer down here it's not so much that it gets too hot, it rarely gets over 95 F, but that it lasts so long. We have 80 F + starting in April and it typically lasts through November. No fall... No spring... only Summer...
LOL Good point!
Speaking of Motley Crue...
If one ever needed definitive proof that anything is possible surely the fact that Tommy Lee has been married to both Heather Locklear and Pamela Anderson is just that.

Give it time to load... you won't regret it.
P.S. - Do I get a prize for the longest link yet posted?
I agree with you Mercutio. Clearly you and I (I have donated as well) are a step above the restless hordes who pinch their pennies. No doubt that's why we've risen to the top. :)
Now... who do we see about getting our monies worth? :o
Here is a link to a fairly informative transcript of a news conference held by the Department of Defense regarding both the issuing of the contract to Halliburton and the alleged overcharging.

Here are a few key points from the...
That particular article had been brought up in a another forum which I frequently visit earlier today. I am not sure how it relates to the current situation in the middle east or to what I had said earlier which you have taken exception with. Of course the U.S. is dependent on middle east oil...

As you may have surmised from my earlier comments, I do not believe that this war is about oil. In my opinion the only role which the Iraqi oil reserves have played in this war has been to invite the cat calls from the left of "thief!". Oil is a distraction and nothing more.
I...
Well first of all let me say that I agree with you that a free press has a significant roll to play in any democratic society. A free press is the first line of defense against the abuse of power by those to whom great power has been entrusted by the people.
I do however find it difficult to...
Oh? That isn't what I said. Go back and read it again.
As for your charge against Dick Cheney, please know that virtually every U.S. oil company purchased oil from Iraq in the 1990s under the UN oil for food program. In fact eight percent of U.S. oil imports came from Iraq. One half of Iraq's...
David,
First of all welcome back. It's very good to hear from you again.
You are right in that I have attacked the messenger in regards to Chomsky's article. And I make no apology for having done so. After all the article is an editorial and not a news report. As such one must weigh the...
CityK,
Fair enough. I don't have any respect for Chomsky (nor does Alan Dershowitz) and you haven't any for Windschuttle. Chomsky hasn't any for Wolfowitz, and Wolfowitz no doubt hasn't any for Noam. So it would appear that we are right back where we started. At any rate...
The truth? The...
Congratulations for likely being the first person to ever use the "Worker's Party of Denmark" as a reference source for purposes other than to incite another October revolution. What can I say to such drivel? How about ... garbage in ... garbage out?
The Philippines is a thriving democracy...
Well lets see... there's Japan, Germany, the Philippines, South Korea. Seems to me that they are all fairly prosperous. In fact they rank among the most prosperous nations on earth. And not one is being raped of it's natural resources by Uncle Sam.
