Microsoft using Linux, in a way...

 According to Paul Thurrott: The next major desktop Windows release, code-named Longhorn, is due in 2005 and will include Microsoft's Trustworthy Computing (Palladium) architectural changes, as well as a new 3D video-driven user interface, integrated anti-virus features, and a SQL...

This equation is becoming quite interesting... May I add? = Quebec (Canada) = Catalonia (Spain) = Crete (Greece) = Sardegna (Italy) All of the above are considered rather "different" in respect to the nation/country they belong. Can you add more?!

Microsoft using Linux, in a way...

...the cacheing system was used by the biggest and most well-known Web companies. "They would have a hard job avoiding Linux," he said. He added that for such "close to the edge" cacheing, "there's either Linux, Linux, or Linux." As far as he was aware Microsoft markets no such technology...

Thank you too, honold, I checked them as well. 8) But... I would like to avoid 'Zilla software for a while. Not only because it looks too "in the works" for me (like Linux distros, never stopping to update and patch), but also because above all I like eye-candy GUIs. Damn it, I like to look...

    MS Outlook & NNTP

The reason I posted in a board was because I wanted a trustworthy opinion. I have already found many newsgroups clients (via Google), but I was hoping if you could give me a subjective opinion if you had one. Timwhit did, but unfortunately Agent is not to my liking because of its archaic GUI...

    MS Outlook & NNTP

Jee guys, I don't use any flags. I use Outlook for mail/calendar/to-do lists and I want something to see Newsgroups (except Outlook Express). But something that doesn't look like Agent (it's archaic Windows 95-style). Do you have any interesting alternatives?

No need to actually download the binaries, just browse and see... I'll go with Agent. Thanks for the link, tim! :) I wasn't aware the OE's news browser was so crappy. It was OK for me and the 2-3 newsgroups I was watching. Maybe if you manage more it becomes unbearable... Anyway, I used it...

Is there a way to add newsgroups support for Outlook? It's a shame Outlook Express has usenet newsgroups support and the big brother doesn't have this feature. The closest I've found regarding News in Outlook was NewsGator. It's an add-on. And I don't think Outlook 2003 will have NNTP support...

    Console gaming?

Man if you really appreciate your young adult cousin, persuade him to buy a PC. It is exactly the same above reasons I believe a PC is better: More intelligent game titles. For me a console should come only after you have a PC and mostly if age is <14.

It Professional's role in preventing piracy

If time between versions becomes very short (year or less) then renting might not be profitable for the company. Nobody will buy their software anymore since renting is more economical. Or they may even rent-and-burn. Or once the renting period is over, keep a working copy. There will be a...

It Professional's role in preventing piracy

I couldn't agree more with Jan. Too bad renting will never function for that price. BTW, renting IMO has no sense. It's like "renting a hamburger". You eat it, it's over. Software turnover is very fast. Office XP (2001) is already obsolete in respect to Office 2003 functionalities, which is...

It Professional's role in preventing piracy

IMO Microsoft programs are overpriced. And that goes to all its solutions (OSes, Office apps, developer tools, etc.). When MS commands more than 50% of the market and still demands these excessive fees for products/licenses, it's unavoidable these practices won't stimulate pirating. I know...
