    Lite-On 32X burner problem.

That's definately the most common problem (beside's user error) Nero and EZ CD cremator have become pretty reliable.. However, I've had a few problems with InCD 4.x and I haven't even dared to try DirectCD since I started using winXP. I'm still waiting for Mt Rainer support in OS and BIOS. I...

p5, I haven't seen your bearded face around lately. But I feel the same way about PW burning his bridges. It rarely is the right thing to do. The fact that most people here don't harbor resentment after his post is a sign that he was well liked and a respected member of the community...

New Broadband Speed in my Area

Just depends on the ISP and the site your connecting to... my gf is on 3MBit and regularly gets it.. I'm on 2MBit and regularly get it (always get it on fast servers). I do get the full 384KBit upload... she "only" has 256KBit, not sure how reliable that figure is.

    Dynamic DNS help

You don't. That's not what DNS is for. You tell the DNS server to resolve to the IP address. Then when someone goes to the URL they type in http://someURL:8080 Try checking out http://computer.howstuffworks.com/dns.htm for a description on DNS If you have a DNS server that allows you to...

    Lite-On 32X burner problem.

Memorex CD-R discs are made by Ritek and Taiyo Yuden (clear wrap w/ paper label... made in Taiwan = Ritek, label on solid wrap.. made in Japan = Taiyo Yuden) Both disks should be good in that drive. Has he tried cleaning the drive? It's possible it's a bad spindle, so testing out some Fujis...

    Dynamic DNS help

The DNS service really doesn't have to be concerned with the port the service is running on.. all a basic DNS service does is resolve your domain into an IP. Dynamic DNS help

If you're using IIS 4+ or Apache you can use 1 server to host a basically infinite amount of sites on the same port. The server looks at the URL you used to arrive at the site (assuming an HTTP 1.1 browser.. ie: IE3+) The server then looks to see if it hosts a site by the same URL, if it does...

New Broadband Speed in my Area

Going to the higher rate won't help pings (gaming), and your current up and down are both great for surfing, gaming, downloading, etc. Really, what would you gain by going to the 3Mbit down, 0.5Mbit up? However, if you were running a server that relies on bandwidth I could see wanting the upgrade.

I was thinking jiffy lube (they fart in your car and try to sell you things you don't need) charges about $20.00, dealership charges about the same but won't fart in your car. I can get a good filter for ~$2 and used to be able to find good oil (quakerstate, Castrol, Valvoline, or at worst...

I thought I should submit this because of the thread on cell phones. But wanted a distinct thread for this. The technologies(CDMA and WiFi) seem to complement each other alot. I guess the only way to stop Pal. is to stop pirating (and thus there is no need for Pal.). Microsoft using Linux, in a way...

I think there's too much junk to tell what Pal. will really be like. I really feel there needs to be something done about all the software pirating, and DRM sounds like a good idea for both the consumer and producer as long as it is implemented in a fair way to both parties.
