    Cant format Maxtor SATA drives

what OS are you installing ? winNT/2k/XP? or win9x? If NT based, put the S-ATA driver on floppy, boot using the OS CD, press F6 to load the driver and then format using the OS setup. If your drives are larger than 120GB you may need to slipstream XP SP1 or 2K sp4 into your OS install in order...

    AMD Quantispeed ratings becoming fanciful?

The reason it's non-linear is because you are using different cores, different amounts of L2 cache, and different FSB speeds. The rating is only suposed to show you how the AthlonXP performs compared to the Athlon Thunderbird core. I agree tht current ratings of AthlonXPs make them seem like...

I think I'm somewhat in the Merc camp.. I hate useless features, super bright glowing/flashing buttons... games, color displays, etc.. I want my phone to be a phone and to be optimized for that sole use(battery life, reception). I don't have a cell phone at the moment, but everyday I get...

    Athlon FX

I don't understand the name change to AthlonFX... personally, i think they should just call it an AthlonXP and replace the T-breds with the new Barton cores exaclty the way they replaced palominos with the T-breds. I guess AMD feels they need some more distinction between the 2 products.

120 GB HD on a BX board?

BX should... but if the motherboard maker hasn't continued support for the board through regular BIOS updates then you may be stuck at ~62GB.. maybe not. At worst you'll have to go out and buy an add-in IDE controller like a SIIG or Promise Ultra series to get it to work.
