Japan had something similar for the tracks for the high speed train lines going through the station, but not the standard slow lines. It's okay. I don't think I'd want to live here long term though.

I'm not sure that it makes things unusable. I think it means you can't preview and adjust while it's playing, not that you can't adjust something preview it, adjust it again and preview it again. However, I don't have Audacity installed on this PC, so I can't test it to be sure either way.

I like Mp3tag myself. It has an icon for rename from tag and you put your arguments in the blank to construct a new file name from the tag.

Or, you could rename them from the ID3 tags (if they're all mp3 files).

I don't think the unit is really intended for home use. More recording studio or live sound. Without knowing what it is that you're trying to process it's a little hard to say. Like the input format, the output format, etc. At first blush without knowing details, recording to your PC and...

    USB Keys (Windows to go).

I have two 64gB CZ80 drives. The nice thing about them is they're the size of a normal flash drive like you're used to, which isn't the case of the GTX or Extreme Pro which will block other USB ports, or make the other ports very hard to use. However, it's not quite as good of a performer...

    USB Keys (Windows to go).

The Sandisk Extreme CZ80 are the fastest flash drives I have tried in general use (as a flash drive). A Samsung 850 Pro in a USB 3.0 enclosure would be a very solid way to go if form factor isn't critical.

Hack to get TrueHD and DTS-HD bitstream output to receiver

No, they're lossless codecs. You get bit perfect representations of the original audio out of them. A 2 channel mixdown and lossy compression aren't synonymous or connected. In your specific mentioned example, you're doing both. In the case of a 2.1 setup, definitely. A 2 channel stereo PCM...

Hack to get TrueHD and DTS-HD bitstream output to receiver

Lossy codecs largely destroy subtle phase information. Multichannel audio formats don't rely on subtle phase information to recreate a 3D sound field because they have extra speakers to do that. Hence there being a minimal audible difference between them. However your case with 2.1 is even...

Hack to get TrueHD and DTS-HD bitstream output to receiver

Is the 2D GUI rendering any better if you aren't using the HDMI output for audio? Or is that what you're complaining about? Maybe my lack of sleep (go international flights!) Isn't helping. Frankly you're not likely to notice much of a difference between the lossless codecs and the lossy ones...

Interesting. I hadn't seen that thread. The SC847 supermicro chassis with SAS2 is a little interesting to me, but I'm not sure about the 1400W power supplies or the 12 rear bays that force you to use low profile cards and hardware. That seems excessive but I guess it's not much more than a...

Same as ClownBD / eac3to too. You have to figure it out yourself. I only saw the (forced only) option for subtitles. I'm trying to see how it works. I don't think copying the flagged forced subtitles into another track is necessary (it's certainly not for .mkv playback with MPC-HC using LAV...

What do you mean manually extract? I tried MakeMKV on a AnyDVD decrypted .ISO file as well as direct on an encrypted blu-ray disc in a BD-ROM drive. I had to manually select the right playlist on both, which is a bit of pain since it only shows the playlist number on the right side after...

Well, I don't really make unaltered .mkv's of BD discs much. However, I usually use ClownBD for demuxing since it's easier than using eac3to from the command line. It also looks at the disc.inf file for the playlist line and will use it if present. I use it to demux the streams I care about...

Not sure if you know this, but AnyDVD HD inserts a disc.inf file in the root of the disc structure. If the disc contains playlist obfuscation there will be a line telling you which playlist to use for proper playback. I attempted to get the MPC-HC authors to parse the file (if present) and use...

I agree that if you're going to rip your movies to a NAS .mkv works much better than an .ISO of the whole disc. I also agree that the loss of menus and the special features isn't a big deal most of the time. However, I still think it's quite ridiculous that I can't pop a disc in a BD-rom drive...
