This must be slow, DD: Time to upgrade?

Interesting. I would have thought if cat hair got into the grooves of the GPU heat sink, the same would have happened to the CPU heat sink. Any idea why it didn't? His cat probably used to sit on / near the PC because of its warmth. Fortunately mine don't come anywhere near.

Sanyo Eneloop batteries - charging and analyzing questions

Bought a dozen Eneloop XX AA batteries from a local source. 2nd gen - HR-3UWXB. Has a sticker on the back of each package that says "Imported and Marketed by Panasonic", and maximum price listed at $15 (current exchange rate). That's a tad lower than Amazon's price, and it seems everywhere else...

I want to buy a new car

Nice review, but a bit too syrupy, and as you pointed out, probably not wholly objective. Biggest concern would be durability / longevity of American cars. Can't beat the Japanese for that.

Aren't VW group cars notoriously fickle about mods / changes because everything and anything is connected to the ECU and talks with it? If a device (or even a bulb) is something it doesn't recognize, you will be flooded with error codes. I know for a fact that this is true for Skoda vehicles...

Sanyo Eneloop batteries - charging and analyzing questions

I've read that if a cell is just sitting around for months/years, it will eventually develop crystallization. I have some Eneloops that have sat around; I tend to recharge and reuse the same two or three sets. Oddly, I found that I had 8 brand new AA and AAA Eneloops purchased more than 6 years...

Sanyo Eneloop batteries - charging and analyzing questions

In general, charge at 33% or 35% nominal (not minimum) capacity, and discharge at 25%. This slow charging puts in more of a charge and keeps the batteries cooler. But: older / infrequently used cells need a higher charge to break up crystallization which won't get broken up with a lower charge...

I've never considered laptops before for these reasons. Looks like when my current desktop (about 15 months old) is due for replacement I'll have to take a good hard look at at whatever laptop is available then that is as good or better. The price would be the main deterrent, and the shorter...
