How many points would the 6 core AMD @ 3.2GHz deliver? Can it run the big boy units with the bonus? Newegg has them for $229. Presumably a faster version will take previous pricing position.

    Blue-Rays for XP64?

What video card will you be using? The monitor needs to support DVI with HDCP or HDMI. Then some playback software, I believe Santilli has tried out several versions. If it's a retail drive it may come bundled with some.

    Electric Cars

In any given car crash, a traditional petrol tank is far more likely to fail and cause a fire than a hydrogen tank. If a hydrogen tank in a car fails, it's going to vent upwards and burn itself out. http://policy.rutgers.edu/ceeep/hydrogen/basics/safety.php Petrol tank, not such a good...

I know there's megawatt loads on the grid. Take a datacenter for example. A backup diesel generator of say 1.5MW is a 16 cylinder turbocharged engine the size of a small minibus, using 2" thick copper lines for transmission to the switching gear. Those lines couldn't be used to plug into a...

Apart from my 15K drives, once played with a variable speed router that had quite a bit of torque. It was definetly a device that shouldn't be used after a classic liquid lunch.

The workers at the local servo can barely operate the cash registers, let alone replace a couple hundred pounds of battery pack. The closest I have seen to this is the super charge ion (SCiB) battery from Toshiba , apparently good for up to 6,000 cycles, currently used in electric bicycles.

    Did Megi get Paugie?

I love baked potatoes with butter, cream and bacon. Also, french fries (known to me internally as chips aka fish and chips but they bring you potatoe chips if you ask for that in the US). The shoestring type for maximum flavor. And mashed potatoes, also with butter. Sweet potato is also very nice.

That's why I like the hydrogen fuel cell based tech the best. You can refill in a few minutes on the go because the energy transfer rate is like gasoline. Solar on the roof of the house/garage can generate the hydrogen at home, and it can be stored in tanks outside as a battery, running thru a...

There's applications for it. Shipping an external hard drive versus popping a couple of discs in a mailer, there's some significant shipping cost savings. If you contact Microsoft, they should give you the legitimate license you paid for. At least, that's what happened to a friend of mine and an ebay seller that was providing keys that couldn't be activated. MS ended up prosecuting the seller. Of course, that would entail giving them a lot of...

    Affordable graphics cards

I've had no probs with the drivers on my 5770. For the comfort of staying with nvidia, the price to be paid is about 100W more power consumption per card (more noise), plus the loss of HDMI 1.4a, UVD3, and DP 1.2 support. It looks like you are moving up in pricerange, if you can still wait the...

    Affordable graphics cards

Yes, though keep in mind one of the DVI ports is single link. To run 6 at once, you need three DisplayPort monitors on each DP 1.2 port (daisychained or breakout boxes). In this case, the card is waiting for display manufacturers to catch up.

The improved crossfire performance means two 6870s are faster than almost everything except the 5970. One now, another one later if you go to a 30" monitor/1600p.

The video card OEMs seem to go out of business moreso than needing the warranty. I've had good luck with HIS. It looks like the 6800 series has 6 display links to share with the 5 outputs, compared to 3 on the 5000 range.

900MHz on the 6870 vs 725MHz on the 5850. They've also changed the shader structures etc. I would wager the end results will use less max power than the 5850 (even though both are rated 151W).

    Affordable graphics cards

$325? This is aimed at the GTX460 1GB. What do you think the 6950/6970 (replacements for 5850/5870) will be priced at? They are comparing last years $300 card to this year's $200 card (the slide is more focused to OEM card builders as the Barts GPU is a drop in replacement).
