Do you think Sony will kill Blu-ray?

I'm pretty sure Sony Pictures loses several billion a year in revenue due to torrents etc. That doesn't mean other Sony divisions don't produce products that work well over the Internet (PSP-PS3 global media sharing etc).

Do you think Sony will kill Blu-ray?

Multiplatform games are best played on PC. I'm talking about exclusive games optimized for the PS3. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Metal Gear Solid 4, etc. I take it you aren't listening to the lossless soundtracks then?

Do you think Sony will kill Blu-ray?

Have you actually played a PS3 game? It has quite a few games that are completely beyond what the geforce 7800 era graphics chip can do in a PC. What blu-ray player are you using for your hdtv?

Do you think Sony will kill Blu-ray?

Current Sony mp3 players support USB drag and drop for transfers, which neither the ipod or zune provide. When you buy a game on the playstation network, that game can be shared with up to four other people.

On 2AAs that is exceptional. Though I would never rely on a GPS solely when bushwalking in a remote area. Compass and hard copy laminated maps are primary. I've found in downtown Manhattan the vehicle GPS can't get a signal.

To me, a consumer of natural gas, hydrogen production could be powered by a solar array, combined with a small fuel cell generating enough power for the house, hot water also a benefit. Electric charge times are very lengthy compared to a fill of 5000 bar hydrogen, and 4kg in a composite...

Hmm, can get an X2 5600+ socket 939 (2.8 GHz dual core) for $75 from TigerDirect. That's got to be a step up from my 3000+ (1.8GHz single).

How do I turn this system into a HTPC?

Users who cared about performance already knew the card was crippled by using a lot of slow ddr2 when the rest used gddr3 that was over twice as fast. Those that didn't got a warm fuzzy from having "2GB".

SSDs - State of the Product?

Yes, for a value minded consumer I wouldn't recommend the 955 or the i7 platform. The X3 and the "slower" X4s are much more bang for buck.

SSDs - State of the Product?

I have the same problem, a socket 939 mobo with a 3200 single core in it. Hell it's still got AGP. Doesn't seem worth hunting down a faster 939 processor, hard to find them.

SSDs - State of the Product?

Greg, the i7 platform gets you a couple of percent improvement over the fastest AMD has to offer. However you are paying a very significant premium for those percent. Bleeding edge and all that. The value for money at this time is: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition - $245. That's quad core @...

How do I turn this system into a HTPC?

    Because the DDR2 iis 400MHz * 2 transfers per cycle = 800 megatransfers per sec. The GDDR3 is 800MHz * 2 transfers per cycle = 1600 megatransfers per second. The GDDR5 IS 800MHz * 4 transfers per cycle = 3200 megatransfers per second

How do I turn this system into a HTPC?

    Look at the numbers for the GeForce 9400GT 128 bit @ 400MHz = 12.8 GB/sec. Oops so 25.6 GB/sec for 256 bit ddr2. You can get to 57.6 GB/sec but it takes GDDR3 @ 900 MHz with a 256 bit bus.

How do I turn this system into a HTPC?

Let's take this one slowly. DDR2-800 is capable of 6.4GB/sec per 128 bit channel. So two channels gets you 12.8 GB/sec of bandwidth. GDDR5 is capable of twice the bandwidth of GDDR3, which is itself twice as fast as DDR2 SDRAM. At any particularl bus width. If your point was that DDR2 is in...

How do I turn this system into a HTPC?
