    Who should decide?

NYS already has it. However they are not valid in NYC. And with some of the city Assemblymen recently trying to ban any >.50 cal guns - which include smoothbores such as 12 gauge shotguns, I don't think that will change anytime soon.

    Who should decide?

That would be any person not convicted of a felony, or mental problems. Most States now have concealed carry. Care to tell me the last time one of these jackasses misused their guns?

At work we recently went to a T1, a real thing of beauty, we have VOIP on the same connection, it will dynamically allocate bandwidth if there are calls being made, otherwise we get the full T1 for data.

    Disclosing info to Paypal

What happens is that a personal paypal account has no fees for payments received. Once they move to a business account - which a seller must have), they are charged a percentage for all payments (whether funded from a bank account or via credit card). This is generally 2.9% plus a flat fee of...

    Disclosing info to Paypal

Actually ebay policy has changed recently, sellers that accept Paypal as a payment method for an ebay transaction MUST accept credit card payments (basically if they have a Personal account, and are paid via credit card, they must upgrade to a business account). So you should be able to pay...

Oops, forgot to mention, the 600,000+ actuation camera is a 1Ds-MkII. The only real problem we have seen with them is they sometimes "crash", i.e. they are powered on but nothing is displayed on the top LCD display. Pulling out the DC coupler for a few seconds, then re-inserting seems to...

    Photography Advice

Our client has worn out another camera, this time it failed at just over 600,000 actuations. Not bad for 3.5 months of work :) Shutter issue, sounds like the blades are damaged and jamming. Back to Canon.

NEWZ: Seagate Releases 120GB & 100GB 2½ Inch Notebook Dr

Got an OEM Hitachi 400GB yesterday from Newegg, for use with the HD-DVR. Is it normal for them to get so hot that they can't be held for more than a sec or two? (It was sitting in an open 5 1/4" external enclosure, no active ventilation).

    Stupid Lawsuit

Guns are designed to shoot things. Clay targets, paper targets, bowling pins, even humans. Can be used for good - cop/armed citizen shoots home invader dead, or for evil - mass murder. Your MIL case could go either way :) AFAIK there has never been a successful prosecution of a gun manufacturer...

It's been working fine. You get used to 24" real quick. Personally I don't find the improvement over 1600*1200 to be all that staggering. I won't be getting another until I can get me some 30" luvin.

    I'm in love

DVI tends to max out at 5-10m IIRC, to get longer runs you need fiber-optic versions which are mucho deniro. I can definitely see the difference between DVI and VGA at UXGA, and 1280*1024 rez (tho this is with Nvidia cards that probably don't have very good VGA output to begin with).

    Giving Up a Car

Sounds good, but from what I've seen, insurance companies like to see that you have had previous continous coverage prior to them granting you insurance. No sustained coverage, higher premiums. You just can't win.

    Giving Up a Car

Nowadays a lot of insurance is determined by your credit score, bad credit + excellent driving records still = high premiums. If not having a car doesn't work out, you could try a cheaper car (a Hyundai for under $200 per month?), and that will reduce your premiums.

    Plasma

That's enhanced definition (EDTV). An improvement over SD, but not much. Also, given that PAL is 576 lines, I'm wondering what kind of abortion they are doing to get that to fit in 480 lines (which is what NTSC uses). The true HD plasmas tend to use 1024*768 or similar (which works out because...

I need a color laser printer

Phaser solid-ink printers are nice, but have downsides such as the inability to mark up prints due to water repellency of the wax.
