Let's rephrase that. Why would he buy a phone that restricts what he can do with it?

    question Mobile Phones

I would personally avoid Motorola phones. They make it a real pain in the ass to root them.

    question Mobile Phones

The HTC Wildfire has a very low screen resolution (320x240). I wouldn't buy anything that low. I like my HTC Evo 4G a lot. If you are really concerned about battery life, just carry a spare with you.

I'm guessing you mean high availability or redundancy rather than backup. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nf/20110421/tc_nf/78253 EC2 is supposed to provide redundancy.

    Low power file server platform?

Another thing that makes OpenSuse more interesting is the Tumbleweed rolling update repository. This will make it possible to never worry about doing a full upgrade ever again (hopefully). I'm not using Tumbleweed on my desktops because I need the Nvidia proprietary driver and rebuilding it...

    Low power file server platform?

I haven't read anything about Red Hat being unfriendly to CentOS, but I haven't looked either. I run OpenSuse on two desktop systems at home, I think they have a very nice distribution. YaST makes administration quite easy and it's available through KDE/GNOME and the CLI. You could also look...

    Low power file server platform?

What version of CentOS/RHEL are you using? CentOS 6 should be released fairly soon, but I thought it would be out by now so who knows. Why would you move to another Linux distro? I would avoid (Open)Solaris personally, I don't think it has much of a future. BSD could be a good choice if you...

    Dual screen phone

Running two apps at the same time would be very nice. I wonder if the phone is up to the task though? My Evo 4G has similar hardware specs and I don't know that it could handle this smoothly. It might not be a problem for a game, but I think it would be annoying to read a document or article...

Looks kind of clunky. I'll admit I only skimmed the review, but can it run a separate application on each of the screens and switch back and forth between them? I got the RouterStation Pro up and running. I initially screwed up the network configuration and was unable to connect to the router, so I had to do a hard reset on it and then I loaded what I believe is the latest version of OpenWRT. That part took me about 1 hour. It took an overly long time...
