    Old Computers

A couple months ago I had to use some old software that was win95-98 only. Anyone play around with that warez win 99? I put that on a K62-450 with I think 512m ram in it and that thing positively flew. 99 comes with a lot of drivers etc preloaded so I was able to pop in a USB PCI card with USB...

Looking for something easy, I basically want a thumbnail that you click to get a popup with the full size picture. A quick google results in a overwhelming flood of info. I have to embed it in a standard page and I would prefer to not have people clicking the OK for popup blocker. Using a...

    Networking class suggestions please?

No salary bump just for certs, but they do realize they can loose us after, case in point above where they lost all those people after training. This is something I might just do on my own though. I have been promoted recently anyway to internal support on our monitoring products for doing...

    Networking class suggestions please?

Comp TIA network plus? I did that some years ago, agree it wasn't worth too much. I will look into CCNA, seems to contain a lot of what I want. My company might not like that too much as they trained a bunch of engineers to probably the professional level. They all said thank you and left for...

    Networking class suggestions please?

I wish to better my networking skills, can you recommend any decent classes for the type of things I actually encounter? I am hoping on something really low level and staying away from the windows administration side of things, because for my job we leave that up to the network admins. The stuff...

    MP3 Player (what to buy)?

Guess I will chime in as I am very happy with a recent purchase but it all comes down to what you use the thing for, and I decided to combine the MP3 thing with a ebook reader and GPS so I went with a pocket PC and an 8gig SD card. I got an ASUS A696 and I am very happy with it, so glad I didn't...

AVG users, a couple things I don't like, agree?

I have been using AVG free sense I rebuilt this machine maybe five weeks ago. I do think it leaves you with a faster machine BUT does the system do real time protection or not? PC Gaming = World of Suck

I spoke too soon on that AVG and Bioshock thing. This morning it deleted my Bioshock.exe with a Obfustat.JXR detected. It allowed me to restore the file and then immediately detected it again, which I was allowed to ignore. Wonder if that will happen every time.

PC Gaming = World of Suck

Thats interesting, I wonder how they consider removing it from a computer? If I just format the drive and reinstall it didn't phone home to inform them about the uninstall... Only real solution will come from the warez community.

Thats odd, I have Bioshock and AVG and AVG didn't complain. Hopefully game copy world will have a no CD patch soon... You can get Bioshock via steam without secure rom, or Circuit City has it for $10 less than everyone else. That said I wish there was more time in the day, game kicks ass...

Spinrite has them right now and I will probably kill that at three or four hours in, total time would be just over seven hours it's estimating. No problems yet, infact I had a little scare, I couldn't hear them spin up at all, very quiet. Well newegg drive shipping has either been spotty or...

    Partition resizing in Vista

What about your write speeds? Thats where RAID5 really falls down, I would expect read to be at least as good as single drive etc. Only thing I can think of is you will need the F6 driver to get the OS on there and eventually the 3DM suite for windows. Tell the BIOS you want to boot from SCSI...

OK, so I went with the 7200.10 from newegg, lets see how they survive the flight across the country. I intend to spinrite them as soon as they get here. As a special bonus they are coming with two 1gig really small (and slow apparently) USB drives.

    Automotive Fuses from Harbor Freight
