    Deleting directories recursively

Ok, so I have a bunch of directories, all at the same level, and they all have a directory called Output in them. I need to delete the Output folders (or at least delete their contents). I tried del /s Output but it didn't do jackshit from the root dir. I'm sure I'm missing something here...

Before you change all your config around, have you tried the latest Cisco client? It's 4.0.5 I believe. Undoubtedly they fixed issues with SP2 firewall.

VPN issues, sigh, I know these questions abound but...

Easiest solution would prob be getting a Netgear router for I believe $10 after rebate, and forgetting the horrors of ICS forever. But having the latest client would still be a good idea.

Sounds like they fixed the issue with the latest update to the Cisco VPN client software, Im sure you can get a copy from your work's sys admin?

    Uninstalling NAV Corporate Ver 8.0

Thanks. Registry deletions were a success. Found a bunch of spyware as well. That's the last time we loan out machines. I could have left NAV 8.0 installed, but all the options were locked, I needed to turn off the background scanning crap. Pradeep 1, Symancrap 0.

    Uninstalling NAV Corporate Ver 8.0

So one of our machines has turned into a sloth. No doubt by the customer who thoughtfully installed NAV Corp 8.0. Now one would think a simple Add/Remove programs click would rid us of this curse on humanity. However, it demands a password. Which we don't have. Any backdoors for nirvana? Thanks...

Xeon solution vs. P4 for single processor?

The problem is that even if you go for a single CPU now, the cost of a decent dual mobo is significant. Even if you can then get a matching second CPU down the track for a fraction of the original price, it still may be cheaper to just get a fast cpu+mobo now, and then a new cpu+mobo when...

    Whitetail Opening Day Coming Up

Well went out on opening day yesterday. All the talk was about what the freaking nutcase in Wisconsin had done the day before: http://courttv.com/news/2004/1123/hunterdefense_ap.html Death penalty would be good, tho I'm guessing WI doesn't have it. Sat in a treestand for the opening hours...

    Annual Upgrade

I have to agree regarding CPU speed, I guess with Intel running out of huff and puff, AMD is now the one that has less pressure to quickly ramp speeds. We will prob see a plateau for a while, at least till they both get their multi-core CPUs out. DD, do you think <4GB in a desktop class system...

    Annual Upgrade

Just forget about upgrading the PC and get yourself a 1DsMKII. We got one in yesterday and it is fantastic. The resolving power is mindboggling, and the transfer speed over firewire is thankfully much improved over the slothy Mk1. Biggest problem is finding a lens that doesn't look like shite...

    Excel and databases

Well I got all excited and was recalling my Access skillz, when the CEO announced that we were going to outsource the whole lot. Oh well. Apparently it's all going to be web-integrated so we can check status whilst sunning ourselves on a tropical island. At least my spec sheet will be useful for...

I ordered myself one of these. I've convinced work that we need 20" panels for more productivity, now it's a matter of choosing between the 4:3 2001FP or the 16:10 2005.

Dell Small Business->Servers->PowerEdge->SC420. If you can live with integrated video you can't beat the price. And there's PCI-Express if you want to add your own vid card.

What a start to the Winter

3 inches last week, of course that was the night I was meant to drive down to Ithaca. It was snowing hard enough that I could just barely make out my I-90 exit. Given that where I was going I had never been, and the signs were starting to get covered, I decided to wait till the morning. Plus I...

AIT DVI out Single or Dual Link?

With reduced vertical blanking interval ticked WUXGA should be OK at 60Hz. You would only have to have dual link for the 30" Apple monitor, and the extreme IBM 22" which requires a total of 3 links I believe.

    Whitetail Opening Day Coming Up

In the Southern Zone of NY, rifles are illegal for hunting deer. So shotguns with slugs are the only real choice. Buckshot is illegal. Most states have veinson donation programs, you drop the deer off, they will process it and it goes to feed homeless people. Venison is a very healthy meat. I...

Panasonic DMR-E55S DVD-RAM Recorder for Television

I believe DVD-RAM has recently been EOL'd development wise at 5x speed. But at $250 it's not a bad little device. Personally for me it's a toss up between spending $500 for a D-VHS deck, or waiting perhaps a couple of years for affordable BluRay recorders. This is for HD archiving.

What's the status of XP SP2?

Recently I've been having probs where every time I right-click a file Windows Explorer crashes. At first I thought a virus, but it turns out it's actually Dr.Divx and SP2 interacting in a sad way. Fortunately an easy fix is at hand. Uninstall the dirty Doc. Or you can fiddle in the reg.

    gmail security issue

Is it any worse than clicking on some dodgy email that purports to be from your bank, and then fishes the username/password? Also I'm wondering how the cookie would let people in even after you have logged in from somewhere else. That does need to be fixed.
