I hate the USB-based port replicators because they aren't port replicators. They have a completely separate NIC, sound card, video card, etc. This means that IP addresses, resolutions, and audio output preferences are not carried across.
A client has a server and doesn't know the password. I believe it is Server 2008 R2. It is currently running fine, but it would be nice to be able to log in. I have full access to the machine, so booting to a CD or other is possible. What is the current state of this sort of thing?
Yup. There will be floor-to-ceiling cabinetry along that wall (matching the kitchen) and the rack will be inside it. That is one of the reasons for the water cooling; I didn't want to worry about ventilating the rack.
Indeed. The question is how long do I have before she is able to crawl and grab/puke on stuff? 2 months? Instead of putting up a fence for a play area, I should just put the fence around the rack and give her the rest of the house.
After chatting with my local home theater guy I decided to go with the ADAM audio A8X instead. He cut me a pretty sweet deal and I couldn't pass it up. So Handruin should be getting some Emotiva 4s by the end of next week.
Nope. The owner is a pet monkey. That is my living room. ;)
I'd torn out the whole thing to install the new flooring, and now I'm just sticking it all back together. I was about 15% complete when I (and my amazing ability to procrastinate) realized that the poor lighting was effecting my...
She is in her 60's and will be staying for 6 months. $1M policy with a $2500 deductable would run about $1600. And the pre-existing condition clause might kill it's usefulness entirely.
She doesn't have insurance at the moment, as it is universal and free in Russia (if you are willing to wait...
Ugh....such temptation, along with the easy out for my current gear. Mine are lightly used but without any of the original packaging or documentation. Name your price including shipping (they offer free shipping, so I should as well to make the math easier).
My mother-in-law will be staying with us for about 6 months, and I need to buy some health insurance for her. Does anyone here have recommendations or suggestions?
Considering even the 50" 4k screen required some scaling to be usable, this will be more about smoothing text than getting more working space.
Should make headshots easier, though. ;)
I've been playing with the idea of doing that for quite a while (just for personal stuff), but it is an excellent idea. There might be a couple places in San Jose that are competitive in this regard. Thanks!
Documents are most often PDF, but DWG, XLS(X), DOC(X), and TIFF also happen. File size can occasionally exceed 100MB. The only reason I wanted it hosted elsewhere is that internet connectivity to our site is very expensive due to it's location, and I don't want to incur that expense for hosting...
I'm hoping that just the estimators will need to manage users. They are not IT personnel, but they have degrees and work on computers every day. Most of them are under 40 as well, so have less fear of tech than most. (No offense intended. In my experience those that grew up with tech are more...
The new project I've been given (at 4PM on a Sunday) is to put together a system for providing plans/contracts to our subcontractors. Each job should have it's own subfolder. Users should be easy to create and assign read-only or read/write on a per-folder basis.
So far this is a brain-dead FTP...
Indeed. But I think that is always the case at the top end of motorsport. The difference between a $100,000/year driver and a $20,000,000/year driver is a few percent.
I always wondered why the WRC guys didn't do Pikes Peak.
This is what happens when you take the many-times-over world champion and stick him in an amazing car. 0-60 in 1.8, 0-150 in 7.
Great in-car video.
I do get my hands dirty, but I also have a full staff of specialists handy (general contractor friend, and I work for a construction company). Anything tricky and I bring in someone (just stocked the fridge with beer for the concrete guy on Monday).
The Plastidip was something else. No...
Getting all the loose material off is a must. Plastidip probably isn't the best product for a lasting finish, but it is so cheap and so easy that I'd still recommend it. The only masking necessary is to keep it off the tires/brakes and out of the engine and other vents. Even going straight over...
I think it was Stereodude who turned me on to a product called plasti-dip. Great stuff, and would make your car look "sick" or "dope" or "trick" or whatever youthful term they use in your neck of the woods. $300 will get you all you need for a normal color, but $436 will get you Electric Lime...
When I read in bed, what I want is something with a big enough screen that I can keep it some distance from my face. If I don't my eyes tire quickly. I also want something with a heavy base I can use to prop the screen up without holding it or my arms get tired. I've found that this new...
Nope. For that you don't even get a "thank you" e-mail. But the fact that there has _never_ been an issue with an order from Amazon.com (not talking about the other vendors listed on their website, I don't deal with them if I can help it) at that volume is pretty amazing.
Those are the two that came to my mind (and make up a large part of their volume). It seems much easier to achieve with smaller engines, though Koenigsegg managed 1018bhp from a 4.8l engine. (212hp/l, NA)
