My T510 seems to have a very wide range.

The newer grey foam tips fit my old UEs. They work much better and are more comfortable than the yellow tips.

Also, I have the discrete graphics option installed but haven't bothered to figure out how to tell if its switched on. That would affect battery life.

I typically have the brightness set to 10/15 (220 nit) at least 1 VM running and Netflix or a DVD playing but I suspect these are not the conditions you would want tested. If I shutdown the VM and turn off all applications and set brightness to 3 (I think) power manager thinks I will get 4 hrs...

You are exactly right about what this is designed for. Battery packs for the same purpose require regular repurchasing but this solves that problem.

How does a constant VPN tunnel fetter access to the other devices? In a pinch you could setup and tear down the VPN connection on a schedule and kick off the WOL on a schedule.

You may try uninstalling as many of the original drivers as you can from the machine before the P2V or while in VMware player. I have seen openmanage software and Hp management software randomly affect speed and stability. What service pack is the source machine on?
