Roger. I mainly need it for taking night shots and shots into canyons. I have a 2.1 Mp digital camera. I don't know what else to say.

    I need a tripod.

I happen to have a tripod I'm comfortable with but the part that screws into the camera and quick-releases from the base is missing. And the tripod is so generic that a Google search for its manufacturer results in no hits. I'd like to spend less than $100 but may be pursuaded to spend more. It...

    Abusive union

Low skill jobs should not be an end unto themselves. And that's the problem. Many low skill jobs have had the salaries artificially propped up and there is no incentive for personal and thus societal improvment. Those who take the risks should reap the rewards. Marxism doesn't work. What David...

    Stealth inflation

I have eventually been able to consolodate all my credit card debts onto one card with a 2.9% rate for the life of the debt and no annual fee. I was even able to get the limit raised to accomodate. Execept for that and this stupid card I'm getting ready to cancel, I'm off the plastic.

You are doing it the same way I am Joe. Except I'm using AMEX. I recently called one of my CC companies to have the interest rate lowered. I usually pay off the balance of this card every month and so not worry about the rate but I haven't for a couple. Anyway I called and the customer service...

They may have stopped allowing direct electronic transfers to which your bank would respond by writing a physical check. Which still shouldn't take 10 days. Of course disallowing electronic transfers would only be for the late fees.

Coug, impoverishment is a relative term. jtr, I'm in the same boat you are but who is responsible for the retraining? Additionally, there will always be a lazy element that can not move to a higher skilled job or does not want to. What to do?

Outlook XP and Exchange (not storage related)

You're not trying to say that anything Windows NT and newer is a GUI slapped on a command shell, are you? NT's GUI reaches into the kernel unlike the unixes. Also, with graphical macro programs you can program quite sophisticated routines. That is as long as you can keep people from touching...

    Abusive union

I'm with you David. Jobs that can be done for less with the same quality should be done for less. When hard times fall on a company and the labor unions refuse to accomodate, their jobs will be eliminated and that job function contracted out.

For the first two years in my old apt I did not turn on the heat. The computers don't seem to have suffered. I regularly had to wear gloves (fingerless) or my fingers would get too numb and typos would abound. I install a computerized thermostat in my new place. It sets itself to 60 10PM-5AM...

    Random Hard Drive Shutdowns

Glad I could help. I'm pretty sure the amperage ratings for the PSU is for all wires of that voltage. So if I understand your supposition correctly, it doesn't matter on which leg you added the connectors just that say the 12V line has too much power draw. One characteristic of more expensive...

    Random Hard Drive Shutdowns

PSU are manufactured with enough power connectors for the power rating of the PSU. You may be overloading the PSU on just one of the lines. Possibly also combined with the age of the PSU but I'm stretching on that one. Try disconnecting say the zip and an optical drive. As you know, drives pull...
