    Favorite motherboard with onboard video?

I just built a S939 Gigabyte NF4 board (K8NF) with Maxtor SATA drive. I did not need floppy/special drivers/special builds. I think Tannin or someone mentioned that NVIDIA and Intel SATA don't need special drivers but that others do.

I read half of that list but I would take exception to the term "goon" The wiki list described it as ..."cheap cask wine, also can mean the bag containing the wine also know as a goon bag."... In my day (80's), a "goon" was the 2 litre glass flagon, a cask was a cask. But language is an...

    Video Card advice

The Vista interface will (from my understanding) degrade gracefully if the video card isn't DX 9.0 capable. What that means is that you (probably) won't get the fancy 3D graphics/icons. And that won't be any great loss. And as for the second bit, I hate ATi and NVIDIA for saying part X has Y...

    Athlon 64 & 4x RAM

You could try the 3G switch in boot.ini as well, this might free up a bit more, but the absolute maximum you will see (out of 4GB) is 3.5GB. You could also try a real 64-bit OS :)

Abit: heating the house by burning the furniture

That page only appeared after AMD launched their legal action against Intel. The IT press has covered this page and it is common knowledge that there is no direct link to it on SuperMicro's site—you have to know the URL to get to it. SuperMicro are still firmly in Intel's pocket.

Abit: heating the house by burning the furniture

Abit found fame with BIOS overclocking & th BH6. Nobody was doing it at that time. But in a couple of years everybody had caught up, and Abit was still charging a premium, for no added value. EPoX springs to mind as offering the same features at a better price point. Then most of their...
