Can USB/Flash drives be seen/used in DOS?

Floppies really give me the irrits. I could burn onto CD/CDRW, but a thumb drive seems much easier. Sometimes still I absolutely have to boot into DOS from a floppy.

Why you shouldn't use a Syba SD-ATA133R for RAID

 I am the unmaker! Or P!!!667. I can never remember which... If Intel weren't superstitious, why wasn't the P!!!866 called the 867? Crap, Intel can't even keep their marketing lies straight. In cae you got this far and are still wondering what drugs I took, check out my post count :)

Nichia Develops 60 Lumen Per Watt White LED

I think I have commented on this before--I'm the opposite. I find most flouro's too "cold", and with the blueish ones, I find the cold light lacks a significant amount of contrast to my eyes--to the point I find it difficult to focus--and this with a 100W compact flourescent versus a 75W...

Forgot to add that I told him for a little more than the price of 1 x 256MB stick of RDRAM (which was not guaranteed to fix his machine), he could buy a Socket 754 mobo/Sempron/512MB of DDR and new case/ps and the difference in speed would be like daylight. Unfortunately, it looks like the...

I hate Dell. Proprietary Slot One CPU with proprietary retention mechanism and cooling solution--can't tell if the error is due to CPU, because CPU can't be placed in generic Slot One mobo :x Of course the mobo has to be proprietary to take the bastardised CPU dunnit. Proprietary PSU...

Adblock used to crash FireFox when I visisted TechReport. Same symptoms as CityK describes. Very occassionally it wouldn't. Uninstalled Adblock and crashes stopped. I'd rather put up with the ads than have the browser crash.

    HTML vs XML

If the site/content is (relatively) static, I'd agree with you. If your site has mostly dynamic content--changing data read from a db--then XHTML makes a lot of sense. The caveats here are you are using a application server that builds the content on the fly and then passes the data stream to...

    Video Card advice

Picked up a PowerColor or eXpertVision Radeon 9550 a couple of weeks ago. Funny thing is Windows and Utils identify it as a 9600 and the core and mem clocks are 400/400 :eekers: Was amongst the cheaper 9550 prices as well. Bargain.

    Opera is now Free

Whilst I am a FireFox user, I think this is a good thing. Anything that gets people off of IE is good. Nothing against Microsoft, but IE causes too many problems. I have been trying Opera 8.0 and it is a vast improvement (out of the box) over 7.x. Yep, Opera uses less resources, but that is...

I just gambled on a Powerleap upgrade...

The P!!! range was never my strong point, but IIRC, later versions of the range actually set the multiplier on chip, so even if the BIOS was limited to (say) 12X, you could plug in a 15X chip and it would work itself out. The hard bit was the Tualatin chips used a different voltage regulation...

I've been running it over the weekend. In combination with JRE 1.5_04, the Formula1.com website will crash every second or so visit. Apart from that, it is fine. page loading is vastly improved (speed wise) over a MOOX build (Athlon 64/P4 specific code optimisations) of 1.06

AMD ahead of Intel...in the manufacturing process?

AMD's Cu process tech came from Moto(rola). IIRC though, there was some sharing deal between Moto & IBM. AMD might get the initial tech from elsewhere, but the bods turning it into production ready tech are AMD's process engineers. Why don't they do the lot? The R&D is humungously expensive...
