Well, Prof, you might just get your wish. :) There is a fresh appointment for a moderator's position coming up. I'll be posting in the Feedback forum to ask for nominations within the next day or two.

Funny you should say that guys. I slipped into the office today for an hour or two - it's a cold and miserable day here in Ballarat - and the workshop was quite comfortable to be in without any heating at all. Don't ever say nine Athlons are useless!

Storage Forum 101: how to make sense of this madhouse

Hi. I'm Tea. I'll explain a bit more about me a little later on. For now, I'm your Storage Forum Tour Guide. I'm going to introduce you to some of the more prominent members here. Let's start with .... hmm ... how about James? James is one of our Australian brothers. He knows all about fibre...

Sulo wrote to me that he had called it Vseek in honour of an old utility of the same name, Time. Doubtless that's the one. Your other thoughts I'll leave till the morning when I am a little more awake.

HP Quantum fireball TM 3.5 series

Hey - it just occured to me - you said a Mac clone! Now that's different. There was a time when it looked as though the Mac clones and the PowerPC chip were going to take the market by storm. We were really looking forward to selling them. Hey - PCs get boring, and anything that wasn't the...

Hi Doug. Welcome aboard. There are Mac users here, a small, hardy band, and I daresay they have a reasonable degree of expertise between them. So ask away. Or if you prefer, hop over to the Pub and Brewery, ask our friend the Bartender for a glass of your favourite tipple (yes, he serves an...

Nahhh. Tannin and Kristi pay the bills. I'm only imaginary, so I don't have to worry about mundane stuff like money. Actually, I think we should not only celebrate the Queen's birthday, but also Prince Phillip's birthday, and as many other royal events as possible. I couldn't care less about...

    Mozilla 1.0 - impressions?

I actually own an Opera licence for the Linux version (I rashly bought a dual OS licence to "save money" instead of just the Windows one) but I've never tried it. I don't have a Linux box at present. But I can assure you, Opera on OS/2 is as terrible as the Windows version is good.

Right, this is it kids. Over the top! Kristi and Tannin will gang up and kill me if I don't let them have at least a little bit of the workshop back on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday here) but in the meantime I have assembled a mighty arsenal with which to punish JoJo. (Tea!) Er... Sorry...

    Benchmarking....Again

The key to the problem, as I see it, is not the benchmarking program itself, but the things that the benchmarking program measures. Now here I am not talking about the tasks that are taken as representative tasks for the Ipeak trace or the Winstone run. I don't have any particular argument...

Monitors - Which Technology Is Better?

LCDs seem to lag a little. Generally speaking, and avoiding the very top end ones because of the dollar factor, the latest generation LCD often seems a little sub-par to me, but by the time a given size screen has been replaced as the latest and greatest, the next size down often seems to have...

    Another networking problem

Nope. But I grew up on time-travel Sci-Fi. Also, please let me know what price IBM closed at tommorow. If I can get a mortgage on my house at this time of night, we should both be able to retire, and buy SF a new server with the change.
