I could never understand the reasoning behind putting a power supply on the bottom of the case. Heat rises. So any heat generated by the power supply goes into the componates above it. When mounted at the top of the case, at least some of the case heat is drawn out by the PS fan. Maybe it has...

All the P4 boxes that I'm running have at least 1GB of RAM. All the boxes that are running F@H are running QMDs. I have large WU's turned on. On average it takes about 30 minutes to complete a step on the box running two instances of F@H, with Hyper Threading. I disabled Hyper Threading on one...

My P4 3GHZ running 24/7 produces 900 points every two days. That is with hyperthreading, running two instances of folding. If I run only one instance of folding the CPU usage is only 50% as shown in Task Manager. How do you get one instance of folding to run at 100%?? Look at my totals for the...

A least for me :D I set up two Raptors on an Intel D915 MB with built in RAID. They were set up in RAID 0. When I ran ATTO, for the first time the scores went over 100 MB/Sec. Writes topped out at 117 MB/Sec and Reads were 99.8 MB/Sec. This is with 128k stripes and running XP Pro SP2...

I believe you set those atributes by right clicking on each share/folder and selecting 'Sharing and Security' You should find the check boxes under Permissions and under the Security tab. Bozo :mrgrn:

The local TV station did a story on the coal-to-oil plant. According to them, the plant will uses the waste that's left over from the mining of coal. Sounds like a win-win deal. We get rid of the coal waste (which mixes with rain water and produces sulfuric acid, which gets into the water...

Schools are one of my pet pieves. I'll try to control my rant. At the beginning of the last century, a lot of people couldn't read or write. The education system was geared up to teach people the basics. (3R's) In the middle of the century the idea was to make a better rounded person. English...

The 'rounding' should have taken place in high school. Students by that time should have the basics and social skills. When I went to high school, we had courses like English Lit, Greek methology, geography, social studies, economics, higher math or business math, physics, biology, english...

The other thing that makes getting an engineering degree in the US hard, is all the non-engineneering bullshit courses that are manditory. Aztek history?? I believe these courses are manditory just to keep professors on the payroll. Bozo :mrgrn:

Some of the problems I've run imto with slow network connections were with the switch-NIC negotiations. Even when set to auto negotiate, they connected at half duplex, when they should have been full duplex. The management software for your switch should allow you to check and set each port. The...
