Worm hole found in Windows 2000

They don't want to : that's how they make money. If they ship something which would be close to flawless, how could they taunt people to upgrade to something else later? They are still having misery to make a large portion of their customers update their Win98 operating system!

    Silicon Image 3132 Controller Performance

The Sapphire crossfire board looks like an awesome base for a computer. Fanless design is icing on the cake. Its main weekness is its poor USB2.0 performance, but since I have no USB 2.0 device (or maybe my printer is, but I don't need a lot of speed for it), I don't really mind. Firewire 800...

NCQ on Desktop article at Tech Report : differs from SR

The article in question. Unlike Eugene's latest benchmarks, enabling NCQ on TR's testbed leaded to noticeable performance gains. TR's didn't use light office applications though, but tasks that put a significant workload on the storage system. And according to their test, Maxtor's DiamondMax...

New Computer Money just came in

Ape, PCI-E ain't PCI-X. PCI-E stands for PCI-Express, while PCI-X means only PCI-X. Do not confuse them or you'll confuse us. I don't think Tannin builds a lot of systems with PCI-X slots. In fact, I would be surprised if he built more than 5 of such system in his entire career.

Assembled my first s775 system : probably screwed it.

I needed a new system for one aging box in which the graphic card became a ghost. I already had RAM, HDD, optical drive. I wanted to stay below 500$CDN. I wasn't very inspired by any of the socket 754 Athlon 64 since all were based on older manufacturing processes (0.13µm) and the Sempron on...

On a positive note, my stuff arrived very quickly from the store I ordered it (NCIX.com). I placed my order yesterday at 4:00pm and it arrived here this morning at around 10:30am. I did not even ask for overnight shipping, just their express shipping which is supposed to take two days...

I still didn't try to power it up, but I'm pretty sure I've bent a few pins when I placed the processor. Now I understand why several among you cursed Intel for their socket 775 design. Next time, I'll read the instructions first and put the processor and heatsink afterward. Also, last time...

Get the Dell 2005FPW instead of the 2001FP. Ok, it doesn't display as many pixels, but the image quality is better (Higher contrast, faster mesured response time, more accurate colors and probably wider viewing angles too). The 2005FPW was on sale just above 500$ lately.

Partly because of the very low interest rates these days. You can get more credit and still not bust your payment ratio because the minimal (3%) monthly payment on your card(s) mostly pays capital, not interest on your debts. Since no matter how big your credit gets, due to the low interest...

Why do Socket 939 Boards suck so much?

Getting the FX 57 isn't making much sense right now as the 90µm FX 55 is also available. The FX 55 used to be made on with 130µm wires but the newer batch is simply an FX 57 with a lower multiplier (and 200$ less MSRP). The Athlon FX aren't locked, so you're free to bump the FX 55 to FX 57...

I would suggest the Seasonic S12-500. It received a good review from SilentPC. I don't know if it's a paper certification (meaning that it is meanless), but it is one of the few PSU that is compliant with the 80Plus validation. It also has active PFC, but that fact won't change much of...
