    Sold on Dual CPUs?

Considering that nowadays, you can build a dual Athln MP setup for less than a single high-end Pentium 4 on RDRAM platform, I don't consider the expense to be that great. But I agree that most users don't need it badly. You forgot to mention distributed computing to the list of applications...

    Folding@home on Dual CPU machine?

To run two F@h clients on a dual-CPU setup, you have to use the console version of the client. Then (from The Tech Report) : After you’ve downloaded the client, you will want to put it into a directory. If you have a dual-processor system, you'll want two copies of the file in two separate...

Jason hasn't posted on SR for one week!

I haven't noticed because a) I no longer visit SR's Bar & Grille forum and b) I no longer pay attention to Jason. If he has left, then maybe I will come back there to check if there's something noteworthy to read. Jason isn't the only annoyance on SR's forum however, but his absence certainly...

As a comparison, my Atlon XP does 1/100th of a GAAA_blablabla (same as Clocker wrote) in 3:58. 13 seconds more, but that system is also my main computer so there are often other applications (mainly browsers) running at the same time.

Tea, AMD is more vulnerable than it was in the 90s' because the flash memory market has dropped quite a lot recently. They don't have that secur second monetary backup they had before. Besides, Cyrix isn't nearly comparable to Intel as a rival, because just like AMD, they didn't have the...

On the CPU front, Intel for sure. No matter how much better AMD's CPU will be (if they are, but I think they'll be), AMD still won't have the manufacturing power to rival with Intel. I don't think AMD can grab much more than 35% of the whole market, and even that's optimistic. With the...
